I'm sure something like that is in development. But as I noted, this is only a list of HBO's officially greenlit or nearly greenlit series. Once it becomes official, I'll add it to the list.

Here and Now looks interesting. Six feet under is one of my all-time favorites, hope Alan Ball has figured out how to make another good series.

A series based on Andrew Jackson? That sounds pretty fascinating.

And Lovecraft country sounds really interesting as well.

Completely agree, amazing teaser.

If you are unfamiliar with the original book it gave away hardly anything, while being incredibly compelling.

Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) wrote a draft of Fahrenheit 451 in 2005 that was amazing. It came very close to being made, but ultimately fell apart for some reason. I'm going to be unfairly comparing this iteration to that one, but casting Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon as the two leads certainly goes a long way. Really looking forward to this.

Isn't the JoePa (Al Pacino) movie coming out in Spring 2018?

Lovecraft Country is a mash up of... well, Lovecraftian horror and BLM/white people bashing... no thanks.

Would be a lot cooler if it was either a regular HP Lovecraft anthology series or Saggitariutt Jefferspin

It technically already "aired" via that choose-you're-own-adventure app late last year, and is also a Monday night show, which is why I left it out. Definitely worth noting, though.

Great thread. Saw this article today. Interesting

HBO to Talent: You Won't Get This Much Love at Netflix

As other channels stockpile content, HBO is trimming its development pipeline; 'More is not better. Only better is better.'

When Netflix Inc. tried to woo comedian Jerrod Carmichael away from HBO to do stand-up specials, HBO executives swung into action.

They told Mr. Carmichael that Netflix, which is bingeing on TV production and has a massive stable of content, wouldn't be able to tend to Mr. Carmichael properly.

"If you have 50 kids, you're not going to every soccer game," HBO Programming President Casey Bloys said in an interview. "We go to every soccer game, and we're the snack parents at every soccer game. That's how we treat our talent."

Mr. Carmichael stayed put.

HBO, long regarded as the entertainment industry's gold standard in quality content, is adapting to a new era, when rivals from the tech world are pouring huge sums into original programming and luring top talent away from traditional TV stalwarts.
Also works as a subtle reference to the Netflix exec getting called out at a kid's soccer game for defending Danny Masterson

"HBO's still the place to be" and an "iconic brand," said Rick Rosen, partner and television head at the powerful talent agency WME. Still, the network's high bar and limited space can be a challenge. "If I'm selling a high-end drama or comedy, am I going to be able to get on the schedule?" he said. "That's not a factor at Netflix."

Since HBO doesn't release all the episodes in a series at once, as Netflix does, it has more marketing flexibility. In the case of "Big Little Lies," HBO used half of its marketing efforts in the latter stage of the show's run, helping boost ratings heading into the finale.

"Their marketing is so strong," said Nicole Kidman, co-star and a producer of HBO's "Big Little Lies," which won her an Emmy and a Golden Globe. "They were completely engaged."

HBO is definitely still the king. As a producer/creative, it's definitely easier to get in the door and get your content made at Netflix, so I love them for that, but HBO Sunday night programing is still the dream, and the prestige of all prestige programming.

What? I totally disagree. They are a leader, but they are not what they used to be. HBO sunday night programming is still very good with shows like Game of Thrones, even if they are taking a two year break. However, they are not the behemoth they once were with shows like Sopranos. In my social circles (mid 30's) the Netflix programming is discussed with MUCH more regularity. Very few are talking about shows like Divorced, The Deuce, etc. compared to the numerous discussions I've had in the last months about Stranger Things, The Crown, etc.

First trailer for Succession, which looks pretty damn good and will debuting this summer as opposed to what I originally thought was going to be a fall premiere...

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. HBO had no choice but to delay the season. That said, all scripts for the final season have been written, and everyone's ready to go, they're just giving her the time she needs to get healthy again, and it sounds like she's well on her way.
