Ha, love it, SP.
As for the "interspecies lovin,'" I'm not too worried. It's one of the reasons I just can't bring myself to see The Shape of Water, and while I probably shouldn't judge until I actually see that movie, what's going on in Dawn is something wholly different. Because the entire point is that it's supposed to be a disgusting, species altering act in the book/show, one the main character doesn't want to partake in.
For those not aware, "present day" in the plot of Dawn is 200 years from now. A nuclear war - whether man made or alien-made, we don't yet know - wiped out all of humanity, save for 50 people an alien species saved. These people, along with the alien race, live in a giant, Pandora-like spaceship floating above earth, and the aliens have kept the humans in cryosleep for that entire 200-year period. The book opens as they're awaking the very first one, our main character.
Basically, the aliens are dying and need to mate with humans to survive. There's something we possess that essentially gives them life/strength, and that's basically the crux of the book / likely the first season of the show... do the final 50 humans mate with the aliens to create a new species that will survive, or do the remaining 50 people simply die out and that's the end of the human race as we know it? The aliens are gracious enough to give them that choice, but not without a few strings attached.
Anyway, the humans break up into factions on the ship - in a very Lost-like manner - and the debate of that very question - do we mate with the aliens or not - is central to the plot. So it's not a promotion of that act in any, way, shape, or form. It's literally the crux of the show, the pros and cons of which are constantly debated and weighed by our main characters. And while I can't get into details, there's a lot more going on in the show that makes it more Lost-like than in just the way I mentioned above, with our own, unique spins and twists.
The only other thing I can say at this point is that we're very close to being able to announce the next phase of development, where it's going to be airing, etc. Still a lot of details to iron out, and talks to be had, but we're doing everything we can to ensure that 2018 is the year this show becomes a reality, and hopefully we can all be watching it at some point in 2019. Fingers crossed...
