Mot really feeling this so far. Only character seemingly interesting is the dad. Which means he'll die soon

So where did the Walkers go that were in that church. Strikes me as unrealistic in some ways. It's not like they have enough intelligence to hide.

She was in to many scenes in the preview. She's safe for now. Kinda picked up slow but seems like it could be a good ride. I'm in for now.

One big problem is if this zombie virus was out there (and it is clearly all over since we saw it at the beginning and the kid mentioned "five other states") so why isn't it all over social media?

No way such things could be kept secret in this day and age.

Well I must be in the minority but I thought it was a pretty great first episode. Edge of my seat, really enjoyed it. Well worth my time.

So imagine there is a virus that gives people walker disease. It could be spread through mosquitoes, body fluids, or something. And there are no signs that you have walker disease until you die. That disease could spread pretty wide and deep before the first death produces a walker. Each person would be in contact with thousands of people. Pretty much everybody on Earth would be infected before any government could stop it. As soon as you have one guy who doesn't seem to die until they get a head shot would probably be pretty newsworthy though. When you have a 2nd or 3rd it would be everywhere. Way worse than the ebola thing we had over here. The government would try blockades and quarantines, but it wouldn't matter. Everybody is infected. No matter how hard they try to make a safe zone, people within the safe zone die and it starts all over again. I can see that playing out in an interesting way.

BTW, what the hell sort of retarded shirt was that due wearing at the beginning? Is that his "kick my ass please" shirt?

I liked it. Good early view into the outbreak that will only get crazier. Nick, the junkie, was great. He reminded me of johnny dep.

Tin foil hat pimple face kid was apparently tracking this on one of the reddit conspiracy boards. One of the teachers mentioned people hearing people talking about something spreading in the air, or water, or a virus.

I think the initial virus was released in the air or water and over the course of weeks it gets in everyones systems. Some people react poorly and get sick, hence people home sick from school. Some of them eventually die and turn but most domt die from the initial virus. Others die from other causes and turn. It takes a few weeks to really get big enough for people to notice and not dismiss it, then another few weeks for collapse.

I enjoyed it, but there was no reason for that to be 1.5 hrs. A little tighter editing would have been fine.

For people saying I dont like character-x, well this is pre-apocalypse character. And I think they nailed down average types pretty well.

1) Distant father looking to make up failed family unit, will certainly try and find son and exwife at some point creating tension with new family.

2) Mother who had to raise her kids alone for a time, willing to drag herself over nails for their safety.

3) Daughter who takes risks because she cant be worse than her sibling

4) Anyone from a divorced family has gone through that "I know its your weekend, I just dont want to come over (and deal with your problems or your new family)"


I dont think the heroine walkers are "hiding" but they are lumbering through the slums, and probably have someone surrounded. When the Dad first went into the church there was a junkie hiding, presumably from walkers.

I really liked the EMT footage and response.

It was established in TWD that everyone is infected. It was originally implied that the virus suddenly appeared world wide and killed large numbers of people, who then came back and overwhelmed society. Morgan mentioned this when talking about how his wife suddenly became ill and died from "the fever." Other flashbacks show mass graves and the army wasting people who are deemed to be "infected."

Obviously, a lot of people, if not everyone, are already infected as anyone who we've seen die (drug girl, highway walker, and the standard Walking Dead disposable black character) has come back.

If the zombie virus wasn't causing mass deaths, then it would be hard for the zombies to gain enough numbers to overwhelm society. While people die everyday, not nearly enough to create enough zombies at once. Sure the first to come back as walkers would likely create havoc, but once what was happening got out, and that head shots were the only thing to kill them (eventually it would be learned destroying the brain by any other means also works) people would be dropping them in short order.

The previews didn't show enough, but the zombie virus (they'll never actually identify what it is or where it came from) has got to start killing millions, not just causing flu like symptoms.

I enjoyed it but thought the same. Didn't think they used the extra time well.
