You'd think hospital workers, morgue employees, and first responders (cops, firemen, EMTs/paramedics) would the most susceptible to zombie attacks. They're just about the only people who actually deal with dead people on a normal basis and are the ones called when something scary happens.

They'd be the first to go in my opinion which means law & order as well as general health & safety would collapse almost immediately, resulting in total chaos. This breakdown in society is caused by the lack of structure in general...not directly by zombie attacks.

And not many cops/firemen/ambulance drivers/EMTs/doctors/nurses would need to be attacked for the system to break down. After 1 or 2 incidents like that, there's no way I'd show up for my next shift if I were them.

They wasted no time offing the two black characters. 2 for 2 in just as many episodes

I liked this episode. However I wish they would have shown more of the riots out in the street while they were hiding in the barber shop. That mass chaos always makes for good TV.

They showed at least one cop with a bite. It is coming.

Yeah, we're about 24 hours in and it's clear first responders are already getting overwhelmed.

My only gripe was the main couples plan to meet up later "in the desert". A little vague, ya think?

A much better spinoff than season 2 of True Detective.

Really liking this so far. I remember in one of the old walking dead threads one point of plot hole discussion was if something like this really happened then it was highly unlikely it spread like walking dead made it look and it would get contained.

This series doing a good job showing how it woulda happened and it was as much to do with bites and zombies as it did with society buckling under the pressure of this unknown.

What year is this supposed to be? TWD started in fall 2010....so do both shows star there, or is it really supposed to be when the first comics came out (early 2000s? I don't even know).....just asking because if it WERE 2010, thats right around when twitter was really coming on strong....facebook/my space were early 2000s....If we are to assume this is a realistic depection of a world where a Zombie outbreak occurs, it being 2000 vs 2010 makes a big difference when it comes to what would "really happen" in a world of message boards/social media/24 7 news coverage. If an event like this happened now (or even 2010), even one zombie being caught on video would spread like wildfire and anyone who had a smart phone would know about it within the hour. If its early 2000s, its more believable.

oh and great show/second episode either way...liking this series as much as i could have hoped to

It's already made TV (Rodney King). I remember all of that on the streets, on TV. How shop owners and people on the street handle riots is more meaningful to me today.

I guess they showed their fear well and how untrusting people can be. It was huge, IMO, for the barbershop to take them in.

I love the show but I think it would be better if they actually told the stories of multiple areas and people around the country rather than focus on just one family.

But if they had a clear meet-up place then how would we get the drama of them trying to find each other?

Can they not run each season based on the beginning in different places, starting at the beginning each time?

I would think that would get repetitive.

I watched episode 2 last night and really enjoyed it.

I think it's apparent that the creators have had a trial run with TWD and are putting those lessons
learned to good use.

Wifey seems very nonchalant about killing walkers. I know she was crying in the bathroom, but her reactions appear less shocked then I would imagine. I guess having a drugged out son prepares you for a Z apocalypse in a way.
