I hear you, and agree, but if I remember correctly, the ship-malfunctioning / action stuff isn't until the third act. It's pretty late in the game, and is actually what helps bring them back together after he tells her he woke her up and she gets pissed. The script needed something like that to force them back together again, otherwise I don't see how it would have been resolved.

In all seriousness, I ate dinner next to her years ago - this was a few months before X-Men: First Class came out - and she honestly wasn't that attractive in person. Rather, she wasn't the super-hot movie star you might expect her to be. She's definitely gotten hotter in the years since, but I kind of sort of understand the sentiment.

She's average for Hollywood standards... you know what I meant.

And yes I would take my bride in her prime over JL in her prime. Just the way I'm wired.

Nearly all boobs are hot; her boobs are hot right there, I love bouncy boobs too. Still not a big "J-Law is HOT HOT HOT" fan... I don't see it. Attractive? Sure. In the Creme de la Creme of truly beautiful and hot actresses (or celebrities) in the world? Not in my book.

It's okay if I don't agree with you on her looks.. She is an above average actress in her craft.

I will still see the movie. But more because it's Sci Fi and I think Pratt is becoming a really good actor as well. Not because "ohhhh J-Law... <fap> <fap> <fap>"

The movie screened for critics last night, which is a good sign. Though reviews are embargoed 'til next week, most times a studio screens a movie for critics two weeks in advance, and allows reviews over a week in advance, that's usually a vote in confidence from the studio. That, and I did find one Twitter reaction below from a critic I follow. Of course, things could still go the other way, but it's looking promising so far...

The reviewer probably deleted the Twitter comment after reading this thread and becoming convinced that Jennifer Lawrence was hot, but not "TexAgs hot."

I can't remember the exact wording, but it was something like...

"'Passengers' is a reminder of why I go to the movies. I reeeaaally need that."

Probably realized he was breaking the embargo and deleted it.

Wow. Early reviews are torching it.

I told my buddy about this movie a long time ago, and when we saw the trailer he immediately thought it looked dumb as *****

I sort of kept on about how it'll be good, but he may be right. Could be a big o'l flop.

"Passengers" is the tale of a lonely guy in space, the drama of an ethical conundrum, a love story featuring two of the hottest actors on the planet, and a turbulent sci-fi action-adventure - and for all of that, it manages to be not a very good movie.

Quote:

"Titanic" in space? No, but it's certainly a disaster.

Quote:

Essentially amounts to a risable two-hour exhibit of sci-fi Stockholm Syndrome.

Quote:

Dreams up one of the most intriguing 'what would you do?' scenarios in recent movie memory and takes it precisely nowhere.

It tries to pass itself off as romantic but it doesn't seem to realize that it's actually careened headlong into stalker territory.

Quote:

While Lawrence and Pratt undeniably possess the magic spark of on-screen chemistry, the basic creepiness of this anti-meet-cute extinguishes what the film-makers presumably are hoping is a warm fuzzy glow of spiky, sparky interaction.

I will say I don't care for these 2 reviews at all. Literally posing the question of "what if you were awake on a space ship where everyone else is locked in a pod sleeping, and you would either live ~40 years by yourself and die alone, or you could open up one or more pods?" immediately would take someone into a very natural process where you start to sort of go crazy and talk to/create relationships with people sleeping in the pods.

So trying to say that's creepy is lazy imo.
