So Riggins is gay and can't cope with that fact? That's why he made a big deal about almost clocking that bundle of sticks for hitting on him at the bank and then they show him checking out the gay guys outside his apartment. Which would explain why he needs the Viagra for his girlfriend.
I'm guessing bean bags at point blank range are a death sentence as well.

Why would they kill off Velcoro at this point? What is the point in introducing his character only to kill him now?

preview did not show him...ok.....but his boss said "one of my guys get shot, you better believe i'm at the scene"...he did not say killed, dead or anything like that..he said "shot".

IMDB has him in 8 episodes but I guess that could be flashbacks of some sort as well.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense to kill him off in the second episode. Also, in the preview for next week, I didn't see who said it said but while at the house Velcoro was shot in some guy said one of his officers "was shot" not "was killed." Not definitive by any means but it's worth noting

this is easier than proving Jon Snow lives:
- they didn't book a big name like CF to kill him in 2 episodes
- they didn't promo the entire follow up to seasons 1 with CF only to not use him
- he didn't go on the entire promo tour of talk shows for something he was barely in
- they didn't spend all that time developing a character/backstory/drama with the wife, kid, etc....to kill him
- nobody said he was dead - just that he was shot
- it was a shotgun...could have been plastic pellets, bb's, sand, anything...also could have worn a vest
- as you said listed in 8 episdoes, they only have 8 listed so far as well....
- you don't hinge a show like this on Rachel McAdams and Tim Riggins with Vince Vaughn playing a straight man
- you don't set up the entire dramatic 3-way control scene of jurisdictions only to eliminate that 5 minutes later
- you don't set up all of the VV control over CF and the backstory of the rape, and body dumping if it is irrelevant.....
If you did you basically just made a 10 episode series into a 2 episode series followed by a diffrent 8 episode series.

They have set up a remarkably complex set of characters and plot lines in 2 weeks, with the surprise ending tonight which was awesome. But you have three cops all investigating each other, one who may be gay, one who may be dead and one who only heaven knows is going on with. You have one cop beholden to three parties, one with ptsd and maybe one with the crazy. Your bad guy in Vaughan is trying to solve a murder to get his money back while bribing the local officials and trying to make a deal to rip off the state, and someone is going around shooting off men's junk. Does that about sum it up?
Question though, was she checking out that website because she enjoyed it or because finding those girls was part of the case? I am going with both.

I haven't gone back and rewatched the last scene, but did it appear to y'all that the first shot hit him in the shoulder area? That spun him around and dropped him, the birdman walks over and shoots him in the abdomen. Might still be alive...
But they made it a point to show they recorder in the other room. Maybe birdman and who he is working for sends the tape to the Vinci PD, but keep Vocoro alive and maybe turn him? Use him to blunt the investigation into the Casper case?

I'm thinking she is using it to go undercover. To find Casper's squeeze and any other info she can. At least that's what I'm hoping

Actually, those shots of Farrell in the blue shirt might be rehearsals. He may not be in characters there. Either way, that's a scene we haven't scene yet, and it looks like he shaves the 'stache at some point as well.
Also anyone else disappointed that the HBO TV-M ratings before the episode were a little misleading?!

The Delcoro shooting is tied to the Caspere murder directly ... Probably the same perp. The Delcoro shooter was wearing the Crow mask, which the Caspere killer had to bring BACK to the house after dropping Caspere's body. (Remember that it was in the car during the day-long tour of California).
You will also have noticed that there were at least a dozen other masks on the wall, with an empty "mask stand" that presumably held the Crow. If the Delcoco shooter were NOT the Caspere killer, what are the odds he would have grabbed exactly the same mask?

Agree with NoRagrets logic. I don't see anyway CF would agree to this only to be killed in episode two. This is the most important role of his career... That said I don't know how you survive that.
Also Vince Vaughn has been spectacular in this role.

The person who shot Velcoro is most likely the person who killed Casper, right? Same mask and when we see Velcoro walking toward the house the camera pans and we see an old black sedan which I'm pretty sure we saw in Ep 1 to drop Caspers body. If this is the same person and this turns into a hostage type situation with Velcoro still being alive do we see Caspers killer next week?

Clearly, we need to be on the lookout for an old maroon Cadillac in future episodes.
There was someone sitting in the driver seat, clearly watching Caspere's pad. Crow mask was probably still in the car with him.
Clearing the room (per Rick Grimes) would have done no good, since the shooter followed him into the house. Probably should have locked the door once inside, though.
