Nothing funnier than watching country music fans getting their feathers ruffled over what songwriter or band is better or more country than the other ("I listen to country music that is more authentic than everyone else.")
Hipsters and true country fans are actually pretty similar:
Stupid/Ironic accessories? Belt buckle/thick rimmed glasses/suspenders. Check
City to define your love/disdain? Nashville/Brooklyn. Check
Tight jeans? Check
Facial Hair? Check
Taylor Swift? Check
Sturgeon Simpson and Drive-By Truckers? Check
PBR? Check
Music being infiltrated and destroyed by overt commercialization? Check
This doesn't even make sense. It probably could have, it's just that none of your examples are remotely true.
I think the point is that both Hipsters and Country bros choose to define themselves by what they like, and wear, and drink, listen to, more than any sense of inner self. It's like there is this definition of what makes you a hipster and likewise a definition of what makes you a country bro. Once you know the signs to look for, ie. beards and thick rimmed glasses/jeans and mullets you can point them out from a mile away, because they are obsessed with "fitting the part". This
article does a pretty good job of explaining that theory using hipsters.
