he's been wearing a bob dylan style sort of bowler hat/cowboy hat combo the last few times i've seen him.

Around the time Hubbard went shirtless and slammed a beer with Florida I started Googling "job opportunities + Presby Hospital."

Real Country Part 3
quote:The same thing happened with Aaron Lewis from Staind. Now he sings country music songs about how country he has always been, don't tread on me, 'Merica, etc...quote:quote:quote:Mutt Lange and Shania Twain come to mind.
He said when the LA hair band scene fell apart in the late 80s/early 90s, all of those producers moved to Nashville. He said those are now the entrenched producers in Nashville. So what you hear now is nothing but Poison with a fiddle.
it also happened locally. kevin fowler was in an austin heavy metal band in the 90s. had a label and everything. decided to go the hair metal with hayseeds method mentioned earlier. dudes been a "successful" texas country musician ever since.
I didn't know this about Kevin Fowler. Wow. Kinda calls into question how sincere his country roots are. Given that knowledge, I have a hard time looking at his video of "Panhandle Poorboy" and not wanting to lose my lunch.
There is another guy, Tyrone Vaughan, from Austin that was in a great band that some of you may remember, Breedlove. Fantastic band. It's interesting as he was in rock band and was Tyrone Vaughan Fullerton. So now he's resurfaced and he's now just Tyrone Vaughan, and guess what, that's right. He's a country artist. Still some blues mixed in, but again, how sincere am I supposed to think these guys are.
It's almost as if they are following where the money leads.

Now, ol' Possum Jones on that video is a little different...
quote:Every time I hear a bro country song (especially FGL), I change the station. If all of the local ones play that madness, I just turn it off or pop in a CD.
The problem, of course, is that mainstream country music fans still eat this up. The dude has two No 1 records! It just boggles my mind that there is not one single shred of skepticism shown to this type of pandering and money grabbing by C&W fans.
quote:It doesn't get much better than Don Williams. "You're my best friend", "Some broken hearts never mend", "Lord I hope this day is good" and so many more... If those songs don't hit you hard, I just don't know what to tell you!
Real Country Part 3

So only country music recorded 30+ years ago is real? Come on.
It should be noted that Johnny Cash was not considered a county purist in his day. We look back now and say of course it's country because we grew up with it but Ring Of Fire is not a classic country tune.
Make no mistake. I'm not defending bro country. Just trying to add some perspective.
