Shouldn't be, Pixar was an entirely separate entity at that point.

You'll also notice Disney films started getting good again when John Lasseter took over Disney Animation (2006ish).

That's what I consider the 4 good ones to be. Pocahontas was a big step down from Lion King and Hunchback was even worse. I guess Disney rebounded with Hercules and Mulan, though I wasn't a fan of Hercules personally.
The Emperor's New Groove is hands down the funniest movie Disney has ever made....

What's wrong with him? The Sherlock Holmes movies were fantastic.

Also lion king is overrated, I never got why people think that's the class of Disney movies, is it an animal lover thing?

That movie is hilarious, my wife and I rewatched a month ago or so, and it's still funny

I would agree, but I still consider Hercules and Mulan to not be on the same level as the other 4.

Personally loved Hercules, but I've always been a Greek mythology fan. Even in the elementary school days.

Have to admit I never saw Emperor's New Groove.

But Genie in Aladdin is still genius to this day.

Assuming they won't allow the same controversy that came with the original cartoon? There was a song at the beginning of the movie that what we would probably now refer to as SJW pounced on as racist (not sure how being Muslim is considered a race, but so be it); Disney later removed the song from the movie if I recall.

the original opening scene had the lines

"where they cut off your hand if they don't like your face. It's barbaric, but hey, it's home."

Changed to:

"where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense. It's barbaric, but hey, it's home"

Article from 1993
http://articles.latimes.com/1993-07-10/entertainment/ca-11747_1_altered-lyric

Quote:

In a rare instance of a major studio changing a film after its release, the Walt Disney Co. said Friday it will alter two lines of the lyrics in the animated musical "Aladdin," which some Arab-Americans have criticized as racist.

Disney said the change was made only after the studio obtained approval from the estate of the late lyricist Howard Ashman and from his collaborator, composer Alan Menken. Both won Oscars for their work on "Aladdin."

The altered lyric, however, did not satisfy Arab groups. It was "nowhere near adequate, considering the racism depicted in 'Aladdin,' " said Don Bustany, the president of the Los Angeles chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

Thanks. I only remembered there was some angst over the song, not what it actually was.

Next is Kevin Costner going to have to alter Prince of Thieves to where the Muslims don't cut off the hands of their prisoners?

If they ever expect to re-release it, probably so. Can't go around offending Muslims.

Anyway, sorry to derail from the Marvel topic here.

Enjoy your record for two more days, Marvel.

(Funny that Disney will break Disney's own record. It's just not fair.)

interesting.

i don't think i can spoiler tag a GIF, so i'll leave lots of white space. In case your wondering, it's a GIF of unfinished CGI from the Trailer, only something else is happening that did not happen in the trailer.

Link

in the unfinished CGI, Thor is able to still generate lightning, he just can't direct it without Mjolnir.

Just saw 2 sequences from the avengers infinity war movie

The scale for this movie is unlike anything that's been tackled on film before

Just FYI, the first GOTG2 press screening are tonight, with social media reactions allowed tomorrow morning. Don't know when the actual review embargo lifts yet.

I think that audiences enjoy the characters, actors, and style of these movies enough that it would have to be pretty bad in order to garner negative reviews.

Yeah, and they wouldn't already be allowing social media reactions tomorrow if they weren't super confident, almost three weeks out.

Never did I think we'd get three Guardians flicks. And I bet we get at least one original Avenger (Hulk or Iron Man, probably) in that movie.

Marvel is going to have an incredible year even by their standards. They are going to absolutely rake it in and will do it without an Iron Man or Avengers film on the slate.

Raises the question... which movie brings in the most in 2017?

Guardians Vol 2
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Thor: Ragnarok

Spider Man or Guardians. Don't think Thor will do it. Probably Spider Man.

I agree. I think guardians has more appeal outside of comic book fans.
