Big media properties are all about the inter-relatability these days, so if you can't at least commit to reading the other shows Wikipedia entries or watching YouTube or reading Twitter, you're going to miss out on stuff.

If you didn't watch a single movie between Age of Ultron and Infinity War because you only like the Avenger movies, then you'd have no idea why Thor had short hair and one eye, why Hulk was in space, why Spider-Man was in the movie, why Cap and Ironman weren't friends, what the hell Wakanda is, or a million other things.

I have to believe Mando-Grogu reunion and Luke trains Grogu and Luke talks to Ahsoka were massively trending on the Twitters this time last year and TikTok and whatever else is out there. And even if you missed all that and were confused by the trailer, just typing into Google solves your problem. It's not like we live in a vacuum where nobody knows what's going on except for the trailer.

I get that people didn't watch BOBF, but it's not like they can't take 5 minutes on YouTube to catch up.

Yes, except the disconnect here is that most people never expected there to be dedicated Mando episodes (apparently) inside of another one-off series. And most people actually aren't on twitter including me.

And I didn't know to go type that in google because the show was marketed as a sidebar spinoff and it's totally illogical to assume or even possibly think that Mando would be reunited with Grogu directly after the way Mando S2 ended.

That simply is nonsensical and terrible storytelling so the thought never entered my mind. If I had any hint of that, then Boba would have been required watching even though it's a slog.

Well, again it seems there are really 2 points going on. One is that a lot of people didn't like the story telling of the Mando/Grogu reunion and the other being they didn't realize Mando was in BOBF.

I think the first argument has been beat to death and my opinion is in the extreme minority.

But on the second part, I guess my question is, how should else could they have told people that Mando was in BOBF? The creators of the show said in dozens of interviews that BOBF was going to be Mando Season 2.5 which was then proliferated to every Entertainment website plus peripherial ones like CNN and Forbes and those places, all over social media (which I don't have either), and discussion boards. There have been plenty of commercials on YouTube and various ABC properties since BOBF ended with clips of Mando and Grogu and Luke in them.

Not being obtuse or sarcastic or anything, what would have been an effective way to broadcast to a larger audience that Mando's story continued in BOBF?

Well, I never saw any of that and wasn't aware of it and I'm a pretty big SW fan in my own right. Maybe I just have an amazing ability to avoid stuff I don't want to see? Of course, I don't watch live tv outside of sports and about the only forums I frequent that are newsworthy are the WSJ, CNBC, some sub-stacks occasionally, and this site.

Never saw it mentioned on here though...somehow.

The more I watch the Mando trailer, the more it looks like Bo Katan has declared war on the Djarin boys and attacks Greef Karga's jurisdiction to get the Dark Saber back.

Here's Mando shaking hands with Apollo Creed and the statue of IG-11 in the background.

And then here's Paz Visla with the mando version of Painless from Predator and it looks like said statue has turned to rubble.

First guests for Celebration 2023 in London April 7-10 were announced today.

Additionally, the first wave of guests has been announced, and it includes Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka in The Clone Wars and Rebels), Dee Bradley Baker (voice of all the clones in The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Indira Varma (Tala Durith in Obi-Wan Kenobi), Matt Lanter (voice of Anakin Skywalker in The Clone Wars), and Vivien Lyra Blair (young Leia in Obi-Wan Kenobi).

Just some quick google Star Wars Galaxy facts:

  • 10,000 Jedi at the time of Order 66
  • 1.3 million planets represented by the Galactic Republic
  • 100 Quadrillion sentient beings in the galaxy

It's unsurprising that people had little understanding of the Jedi religion.

It's just pointless to try and make sense of the timelines. They had no idea what was going to happen storywise after the first film.

I don't understand why people want to dissect all this and try to gotcha Lucas when it doesn't really make a difference when it comes to them trying to expand on the story now.

Can someone run the math and see what that would equate to on Earth? Maybe a group of like 15 guys in one major city who meet up at a dude's apartment?

I've (probably far too often) thought about this and how it applies to the storytelling of Star Wars, particularly as I've been writing a personal project that involves a similar erasure of history over a reasonably short period of time.

Some of the thread touches on it, but if you factor in the lack of educated populace and scale of the galaxy along with the massive overreach the Empire has in controlling everything and imposing their will, it starts to make sense.

History is written by those who win. If you were someone growing up on an isolated planet where you'd only heard stories of Jedi (most of the galaxy) and then heard they'd all been killed and the Empire started pumping their own propaganda into the world, people's short memories and the public's general opinions would quickly start to intervene. You'd still have those more connected to the cause and history who fight back, but many just wouldn't care or take the time to explore and learn for themselves.

Took a shot at it, if my math is right:

Really? I got closer to 0.08% of a single person. On earth.

So, like a single person's left pinky. Out of 8 billion people on Earth.

Considering the fact that this happens in real life at exponentially smaller scales such as the country and even community level, then it would logically make sense this would happen at a galaxy wide scale.

At a galaxy scale, you could live your entire life having no idea about entire civilizations being annihilated on other planets.

doing this math of sentient beings per planet, that's an average planet population of 76.9 billion. Dang.

The average number of Jedi per planet is 0.0076.

So now, when you do a % comparison of the average planet population in the galactic republic compared to an Earth population of 8 billion, we are roughly only 10% of the average republic planet population……which comparing that to the average Jedi per planet…….we ain't even close to having a single one on Earth

You nerds are going to math your way out of being Star Wars fans.

Now do the Enterprise and figure in crew size and enough room for multiple shuttles. Let's see the math there.

There are so many "empty" worlds that a 76.9 Billion average population sounds... far fetched. Information on the internet would be never be wrong, right?

That's just the per planet average. The 4 quadrillion beings is the crucial number. I think that's official SW info

The 3 trillion on Coruscant alone pumps up the average

wait…..there's 100 quadrillion sentient beings but only 4 quadrillion real beings?

Well that'll shift the numbers a bit….

Edit: Nevermind…..even with backing out the seemingly 96 quadrillion talking toaster ovens in the galactic republic the % still don't equal even close to having a single Jedi on earth with our population…..

Testament to how few of them there actually are in the story

That 76B average is based on a 100 quadrillion galaxy total from further above (which doesn't seem realistic anymore)

At 4 quadrillion galaxy total - the average is closer to 3 billion per planet. This seems more real.
