Bit late to this but re: Jar Jar I've got a pretty great story that I may have told here before but it's worth repeating.
A friend of mine is a senior animator at ILM, he's been there for years and has worked on pretty much everything you can think of. He was there during the prequels as well, and before they really knew a lot about Jar Jar they got the model to test out.
Testing a character rig is pretty standard procedure for big projects, the animation department will get the character and do some movement and dialogue tests to make sure everything works then they'll let the technical directors know what modifications they might need. As there was no dialogue yet and the actor playing Jar Jar was an unknown, they did another thing that's common practice and grabbed some other movie lines to animate to.
So somewhere in the Lucasfilm archives is a clip of Jar Jar with his first thrust overhead screaming "I am Spartacus!" and the entire animation team was super psyched to animate this badass character. Then they got the actual voiceover, and we know the rest of the story.
