Watched the first half or so of Last Jedi, and just flat couldn't get through it. Nothing I saw through the casino scene made me want to continue watching it.
It amazes me that people actually feel this way.redline248 said:Brian Earl Spilner said:

You think that will matter? It's been 10+ years since Revenge of the Sith, and those discussions continue. TLJ sucked almost as much as those, and that discussion will continue also.
we might get lucky and the Post GL Star Wars curse might continue, and we get another director turnover.Ulrich said:AliasMan02 said:
I don't see how you can watch TLJ, whether you liked Johnson's choices regarding Luke or not, and not be excited about him having the reins of his own original trilogy.
I have zero excitement about Johnson getting a trilogy. I've read scores of the books, seen the first six probably a dozen times each, and was in the theater opening night for VII and opening weekend for VIII, but I currently have no intention of watching Johnson's trilogy in the theater. If word of mouth is great I might change my mind, but as of now I'm going to Redbox it.
I really wish someone else had gotten the trilogy because then I'd be looking forward to it. Of course, the way things have gone since Disney took over there's a 40% chance someone else WILL end up directing it.

It amazes me that people continue to slam ROTS in the same way that they slam TPM or AOTC. But hey, to each his own.Champ Bailey said:fig96 said:It amazes me that people actually feel this way.redline248 said:Brian Earl Spilner said:

ROTS is hands down better than TLJ.

What is redeeming about RotS, at all? The opening space battle. Order 66.
Anything else? It might have the worst dialog of any of the prequels, though that's a competitive category.
This lone dialogue completely ruins your argument:Brian Earl Spilner said:

It's possible, I suppose. I enjoyed the original trilogy, as well as the various Old Republic games. The stuff I saw with Rey, Luke, and Kylo was largely good (bar some attempts at humor that fell flat), but I felt my will to live being sucked away every time they focused on Poe, Finn, and the Resistance fleet.amercer said:Claude! said:

Maybe you aren't really into Star Wars?
yeah but TLJ has Rose. Rose is coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhereSimplebay said:
TLJ will age well.
ROTS has not aged well.
It will always have the high ground though.

I'll throw a monkey wrench into this whole page... ROTJ is THE BEST Star Wars movie ever. And yes, I'm dead serious!!!!Brian Earl Spilner said:

I believe ROTJ is heavily helped by nostalgia, and the "bad parts" of ROTJ are unfortunately about half the movie. I hate Ewoks, and I hate how important they are to the climax of the movie.
Having said that, I still love it and the third act overall is still awesome.
But, ROTS to me has more constant highs and fewer lows than ROTJ. And an epic soundtrack.
I put ROTJ a notch below ROTS in my overall rankings.
But in both cases, the good far outweighs the bad. And I don't really fault anyone on how they rank these two movies. It's almost interchangeable.
Edit: Not sure why I clicked the sad face.

Wow, so much of what's been said the past 1.5 pages is why we can't have good discussions about Star Wars....
Is it because so many of you grew up on the prequels that you value ROTS so highly? Like someone pointed out, yes, ROTS is the best of the prequels, but that was a really freakin' low bar to get over. And now ROTJ is a bad movie?? Wow....
