How long do you want to ignore this user?
The mountain had no clue who Arya Stark was; might not have even known that she existed. He also never saw her while in KL.

He didn't have anything to do with the court at KL where they might have interacted; they did not and will not be explaining any of this.

It's also suffcient to say that she is becoming a "woman" and I would imagine Tywin knows it's a girl from having a girl child and her breasts. The rest of the guards/knights don't pay any attention to the prisioners.

This may turn out to be moot (don't spoil), as Tywin may already know who she is. He already knew she was a girl.

I was thinking Tywin doesn't even know they don't have Arya in Kings Landing along with Sansa. Tyrion didn't learn of it until he returned to Kings Landing, right? Seems that they are all too afraid to tell Tywin and were trying to recover her before he found out. I would think its been many years since Tywin had direct interaction with the Starks, so I can't imagine he'd recognize her either, especially in light of not knowing she's missing.

Arya's first trip outside of Winterfell was to KL when Ned became hand. Tywin Lannister has not been in Winterfell in a LONG time if ever (probably only during Robert's rebellion if at all)

The only Lannisters who would be somewhat familiar with Arya are Cersei, Tyrion and Jaime. Right now, Arya looks like any other common dirty peasant boy. Tywin recognizes that she is disguised as a boy, which would be a fairly common disguise for young peasant girls in a war zone. The Mountain is huge, but not particularly bright. Tywin, on the other hand...

**Possible Spoiler** (if you ahve not seen the scenes from next week's show promo)

I believe we got our answer on how Tywin Lannister knew that Arya was a girl in the promo for next week's episode.

One of the men that was in the cage that she brought water to and freed during the fire, is a Lannister fighter. We see him thanking her and saying something to her in the promo - he was also within earshot when Gendry told Arya that he knew she was a girl. He possibly told Tywin when he returned to the Lannister army after escaping.

At least that's my thought.

**End Possible Spoiler** (if you have not seen the promo for next week)

That's not what I heard at all. Went back and listened to it on HBOGO and he says something to the effect of "you saved me and 2 others. We have stolen three deaths from the red cloaks...now we have to give them back." I'm guessing he and the 2 other guys killed 3 of Lannister's men and put their uniforms/armor on to avoid detection.

That is Jaquen H'gar in the preview for next week with the comment about the 3 deaths, the guy that was in the cage with the Night's Watch with 2 other men.

I wonder what the gestation period for the smoke baby was. Obviously if it has only been like a week since Stannis laid down the pipe, he's going to be skeptical when he all of a sudden has a full grown child (IF that smoke baby can take human form). But then again, he probably knows what he's getting into with the "the night is dark and full of terrors" talk. Rinley is probably going to be in the sh*t unless he yields.

Stannis directs Davos to bring the red lady ashore & avoid being detected so I would guess Stannis had an idea of what was going to happen. And if smoke baby can help Stannis win the war, might be part of the reason he was willing to allow Renley the night to reconsider.

I'd say the mountain is comparable to the big show and the hound comparable to the undertaker.

Ok, finally watched this last ep tonight...wow. And the threat metaphor was fantastic

quote:
Illyn Payne is the bald executioner with no tongue, the guy that cut off her father's head. She did add the Mountain to her list as well as the torturer "The Tickler." You had to really pay attention to hear her add those last two.

Thanks for the clarification, I caught the Mountain but not the last one. Interesting that Tywin Lannister realized she was female, I attribute a lot of that to him simply being more observant and intelligent than the halfwits who were torturing prisoners.

quote:
After Tyrion was kidnapped by Lady Stark at the Inn Lord Tywin ordered the Mountain to raid villages along the Riverlands. The news of these raids came to the Hand of the King Lord Stark who ordered that Lord Beric Dondarion lead a group of knights and men to arrest the Mountain. This group was led into a trap and most were killed by the Mountains men. The survivors rallied around Lord Beric and fight on as "King's Men", they call themselves the Brotherhood Without Banners. This is who the Tickler is trying to find information about.

This makes a lot more sense now, thanks. I had no clue what they were trying to get information about.

I would guess that's it or she's afraid they'll kill her and take her dragons. Jorah referred to something like that in the first or second episode this season.

Exactly my thought as well, they were pretty outmanned there.

What would u rather have? A stinking ghost baby, or three freaking Targaryen dragons...yeah, I rest my case.

This is a pretty apt analogy:

Smoke baby = SEAL Team 6
Dragons = tactical nukes

Choose wisely.

Well...the way it was released from Fire Lady's snee was much more smoke-like than shadow-like. Not arguing, just saying...smoke baby is more fun to say.

Questions about Ser Jorah (if these require a spoiler, never mind and don't answer):

I did not realize that he was the son of Lord Commander Mormont. Maybe that came out once, but I missed it. Anyway, he was exiled because he dabbled in slaves. Here are the questions:

1. Who did Jorah run off to tell the news that Danny "had a baby inside her"?

2. Who sent him word later that his sentence had been lifted (some kid told him that in the village)?

3. Why had it been lifted? Because he passed on the word of Danny's pregnancy?

4. If providing info on Danny bought him freedom (and caused King Robert to order her death), why did he later save her life? And why is he still protecting her and not back on the mainland?
RAB97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
My thoughts on Ser Jorah:

1) I think he was initially spying on the Targaryens to gain pardon from the king (via the eunuch).
2) By the time he got his pardon he had maybe realized that he would be in a better position in Drago's army than just a pardoned man back home so he stopped the assassination.
3) He's falling in love with Dani.
BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
From Season 1:
1. In the small council the Spider (Varys) says the pregnancy comes from a reputable source, Jorah Mormont. Ned says he has no honor and isnt reputable. Ned leaves the Small Council.
2. Little brown child gives Jorah his pardon and says "the Spider congratulates you". Then Jorah saves Dany from the poisoned wine.
3. Its never clarified, but one is either to assume Robert pardoned him for serving the Kingdom this knowledge or Varys has some blank pardons he pulls out of a drawer.

It is brought out several times about Jorah and his relationship to his father. Jorah talks with regret about leaving and how he dishonored his House and father. His father talks about how his son left in disgrace but had the decency to leave the family's Valyrian Steel sword which he has remade for Jon with the wolf handle. The books put a lot more emphasis on the Valyrian Steel swords as well. They are lighter and stronger than all other metal and are extremely rare and typically passed down to the Lords of Houses. Not all Houses have them either. There is a finite amount of Valyrian Steel in the world as no one knows how to make it anymore but it can be recrafted.

We also don't know why Jorah's father took the black and joined the NW.
