How would you do it? Is it possible?

This is a brainstorming thread, so no ideas are bad ideas.

The question needs to be how do we stop any and all violence, not just 'gun violence'. If these guys don't have guns, they will just find some other way to carry out their evil intentions. Some people are just ****ed up in the head.

By opening the borders, having a mandatory recall of all firearms, allow women to kill their children up until 18, slavery reparations, establish Islam as national religion, mandatory sex changes, and tax every middle class citizen and up 100% of their assets. Then and only then can this be resolved.

Just shoot people that commit acts of violence with guns. Problem solved.

Figure out a way to solve the MENTAL HEALTH problem and the rest will take care of itself. Get people help instead of ignoring/glorifying their illnesses.

everybody gets a gun. Then nobody can complain when someone gets shot because you could have shot them first.

Everyone should carry a gun at all times. Idiots like this would get capped before they could even start.

As a mental health professions, I agree we need more. However, there has always been history of violence and people that fall through the cracks of help.

True, but it seems to be more prevalent since the changes in how someone can be committed, plus funding issues, etc.

And yeah, since social media (and the agenda of the MSM) brings stuff like this into the spotlight more than ever and encourages the 15 minutes of fame.

Some people are just evil. You can take away every gun in America and it won't stop someone from committing mass murder if that's what they want to do. Timothy McVeigh used fertilizer.

Pretty simple. Women should quit wearing bras. Nobody would want to kill or blow stuff up when you could look at free hanging hunkers all day.

Model respect for all human life from conception to natural death.

Encourage a society in which it is unthinkable to take the life of another human. Where even in self-defense, the death of another human being is tragic.

No more play-acting that killing others is acceptable in some cases, or that some people "deserve killing"

"Love Your Neighbor as yourself" and everyone is your neighbor.

We don't have a gun problem, we have a heart problem.

Can't be solved. The first amendment prevents us from restricting the kind of indoctrination that is turning out and encouraging these nutcases. And that bleeds over to the second amendment extremists who see limitations on weapons of war as a threat to firearms for self defense and hunting. Let's face it: screwing with people's heads and amping up the crazy is a big part of our economy. As long as there is money to be made or political power to be acquired by striking a match in a room full of gasoline, the guys selling the matches and the gasoline are going to make out like bandits, and they don't want things to change. Hell, every time there's a mass shooting, it's Christmas morning for the gun dealers and the NRA. Gun sales go up, memberships skyrocket.

Mass shootings pretty much define what America is these days. Some will say it's just "the price of freedom". Others will say that it is another symptom of our rapid decline. Regardless of what you think it is, the idea that we can change things is pure fantasy. We are what we are: a country with an inordinate number of sexually repressed lunatics, many of whom are armed to the teeth. Nothing is going to change that. There's too much money to be made by maintaining the status quo.

Short answer: We're f****d.

I've always felt cops should be asking for your ID and what type of weapon you're carrying. "Ma'am...where's your gun?"

Ummm, our culture is violence.

Single person shooter video games where death is just respawned without consequence
Antifa
Twitter being a turd pool of hate
Daily news telling how racist we all are
Daily news telling us that our freedoms should be limited
War
Etc
Etc
Etc

All of these stimulations create false manifestations in people's brains. Adolescent males are most likely to act upon them with extreme violence. Be that public, gang violence, other

Damn that pesky bill of rights

Also if America is defined by mass shootings to you, you might need to turn the TV off or get off social media every now and then.

Yeah, because that's what I said.

Today's shootings are symptoms of a much bigger problem. And that problem has been exacerbated by a media that helps focus on the symptoms, not the problem or the proper solution.

I'll answer:

We live in a disconnected society:

No one knows who their neighbor is.
No one attends church regularly anymore.
God and his laws have been thrown out of our schools.
Kids and their parents sit at dinner tables and restaurants on their smart phones.
High divorce rates. Kids feel rejected.
Kids who do live a home where mom and dad are married, are put on a pedestal. Everything is given to them - thereby earning a sense of entitlement.

Our culture is divided more than ever by our politicians and media. There is no middle ground anymore on race issues, politics and controversial issues. Even our American History history is slowly being changed.

Mental illness:

We used to put people in asylums, now we give them pills and we hope they take them.

People are sick and tired of the political correctness!

It's ALL the above folks. If we were honest with ourselves we would start addressing these issues.

It's not a gun problem - it's a heart problem.

First of all, I believe that the answer lies with individuals, families, and communities. I have a whole rant about how people should take responsibility for their own protection and their family's safety by becoming proficient with firearms and carrying everywhere. I'll skip it though because this isn't the time for a gun control debate.

Along these same lines, while it won't stop a shooting, everyone should be capable of treating themselves and others in an emergency situation. We always remind our kids that we are our own first responders and we all carry tourniquets and IFAKs and know how to use them. God forbid we ever need to, but I'm not going to sit helplessly by waiting for EMS while my loved ones bleed out.

Finally, there isn't any one solution for mental illness and emotional instability, but I think that a good start would be keeping kids off social media, limiting their use of electronic devices and the internet, and of course not exposing them to violence in video games and films. All of these things are proven to contribute to depression and anxiety in teens and young adults. It's the parents' responsibility to raise kids who are healthy, active, productive, and engaged with their family and community. It seems like most of these people who act out violently feel isolated or marginalized in some way. Of course they are responsible for their own actions, but we can't ignore the fact that their parents and probably other authority figures failed them along the way too.
