A&Ms acceptance rate includes Blinn TEAM and PSA admits. Not really a fair comparison.

And I was thinking a diploma mill was a school that hands out worthless degrees.
The primary focus of most liberal arts colleges is to prepare their graduates for a post graduate education, usually for a professional degree. I think you'll find that a high percentage of grads from those non-Ivy liberal arts college choose that path. My wife got her geology degree at one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, but they were not known so much for their geology department as they were for sending their grads to the best grad schools. Worthless degrees are only as worthless as the students who get them, and A&M has as many of those as any other school.

I don't like what is happening at A&M any more than anyone else, but the reality is that it is being treated more as a for profit business than an institution of higher education. Being a diploma mill is better for the bottom line in the short term, so that is the path they have chosen.
go to an expensive elitist school and rack up a bunch of debt on a degree that wont matter so that you can go to another elitist school and get even more debt so that you can finally become employable and then complain about having high student debt? or, you can you to a school and get the professional degree and move into the world of employment much quicker. we all know which one you prefer. has nothing to do with being a diploma mill and everything to do with worldview and the role of secondary education.

Aren't we quite highly ranked in the 'most likely to hire" and such kinda lists? Sorta disputes the "diploma mill" talk, which I think is completely off-base and stupid.

Access roads on big highways.
I've never been so confused as I was the first time I drove out of state and couldn't get anywhere I wanted to be.
NY (especially Queens) has the opposite problem and it's a bit of a cluster****. Queens Boulevard (not even a highway) is such a pain in the ass to get on and even worse to get off.

That's not national. People outside Texas may stay in the left lane, but they are all going 5-10 miles over the speed limit. That, I can live with.

Years ago, Burger King had a menu item called the "Texas Whopper." I asked what was special about it and was told "oh, it's just a Whopper....but with mustard on it."

So, I guess mustard on a burger is a Texas thing.

Austin specifically leads the nation in slow left lane driver complaints. All our Texas self righteous a-holes are concentrated there apparently.

The poster did get the diploma mill thing somewhat correct even though he was intending another direction.

Even though diploma mills aren't necessarily a Tx only thing, Trinity Southern University started in Texas was one of the more famous diploma mills busted. So he is somewhat correct.

Hey, he's just upset that A&M is a "diploma mill" now. He just wants it to go back to the elite, highly selective school it was when he went from 1971 to 1974.

I don't care how fast or unfast you are going. The left lane is for passing. If you aren't passing, move back to the right lane. If you are passing, you are passing in the left lane.

I'll offer up an exception. If you're travelling on a highway that does not have feeder roads and ramps, 290 in Bastrop/Lee counties for example, and you see someone trying to turn right onto the highway from a side road, move over to the passing lane and let them in. They have places to go too and don't need to wait on your oblivious, egocentric ass to pass them before they can move.

Little acts of courtesy on our roadways go a long ways towards making the world a better place.
