Dudes walking around with dildos protesting Campus Carry. Always thought that was a California thing. Well, I guess it still kind of is.
ArticPenguin:
I am a middle aged lesbian with two children. In Texas, the GOP would love to claim I am an unfit parent and take my children.

Response when pressed for proof:
I actually have 6 links, and was getting super pissed the more info I looked up...So, look it up yourself, I am not going to fight about something I know to be true, to a person who would just as soon see me in prison or dead.

unfortunately this isn't really true. the IBEW and other unions have a big influence in the energy-petrochem industry, although not the stranglehold they used to have in the north. pretty interesting for this part of the country. they aren't trash, but they aren't fun to deal with either

I don't think you understand what a diploma mill is (high acceptance rate, high faculty to student ratio). The acceptance rate at both A&M and Tech is in the mid 60% range.

A&Ms acceptance rate includes Blinn TEAM and PSA admits. Not really a fair comparison.

And I was thinking a diploma mill was a school that hands out worthless degrees.

Years ago, Burger King had a menu item called the "Texas Whopper." I asked what was special about it and was told "oh, it's just a Whopper....but with mustard on it."

So, I guess mustard on a burger is a Texas thing.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

The primary focus of most liberal arts colleges is to prepare their graduates for a post graduate education, usually for a professional degree. I think you'll find that a high percentage of grads from those non-Ivy liberal arts college choose that path. My wife got her geology degree at one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, but they were not known so much for their geology department as they were for sending their grads to the best grad schools. Worthless degrees are only as worthless as the students who get them, and A&M has as many of those as any other school.

I don't like what is happening at A&M any more than anyone else, but the reality is that it is being treated more as a for profit business than an institution of higher education. Being a diploma mill is better for the bottom line in the short term, so that is the path they have chosen.
