The other problem with selecting annuity payments over 30 years is who knows how they will be taxing lottery winnings in 30 years. Chances are taxes will be higher on the rich in 30 years rather than lower imo.

I view it as an entertainment expense. I can pay $10 to be entertained in a movie theater for two hours. I can also pay $2 for a ticket to be entertained for much longer than 2 hours. Seems like a good deal to me when they payout gets this high...
