Each 100 dollar bill weighs 1 gram according to the US Treasury.
454 grams in a pound
$1,000,000 in hundred dollar bills would be 10,000 bills
That is 10,000 grams or 22.0264 pounds
$1.4 Billion would be 14,000,000 hundred dollar bills.
Those 14,000,000 hundred dollar bills would weigh about 30837 pounds.
With 2,000 pounds in one ton that would be approximately 15.42 tons.

OR

You can go by the Federal Reserve Bank's bulk calculations...
1 cash pack = 16,000 notes = 35 pounds
16,000 goes into 14,000,000 notes 875 times
875*35 would be 30,625 pounds
All that would be approximately 15.31 tons.


Either way you are looking at over 15 tons of money assuming $100 bills

The more I think about it, the more I think I'd take the annual payments rather than the lump sum payout. And here's why: I have a bad feeling that if a billion dollars (or close to it) landed in my checking account I'd be in a position to live a really, really unhealthy lifestyle. And at 46 years old, I just don't see myself surviving that for very long. Now if I needed to survive another 30 years to receive all my winnings, then I could see myself making much better health decisions, both in the near and long terms. I'm not really too big on working out and eating right, but if somebody said they'd pay me $47 mil a year for the next 30 years, I bet I could manage to work in some time on the treadmill and a few more salads here and there. Yup, annual payments for me.

For perspective, we are talking about a check for approximately $540k/week for 30 years (net of tax). I don't know how they structure annuity payment frequency in the lottery, but that is beyond silly. Could you imagine seeing that deposit every week? It'd be kind of entertaining. Of course, it'd also be interesting to sign / confirm wiring instructions on $800 million.
