Time to move on…but typical Aggie is known to keep mediocre to poor coaches past their expiration dates. It has been for every sport that I can think of so why not volleyball.

Not sure how to start so I'll jump in with this. So as a very interested Aggie Volleyball fan it's hard to watch the games with same people making same mistakes without repercussions. Whether that be players or coaches!

It seems that no matter how bad play is for 'special' players no actions are taken to help the team. Same line up same result. Same lineup no substitutions. Error after error. No change.

Rumor has it that the bench side of the court consistently and constantly is beating the starters during practice. Yet only the favorite few seem to make the court. Start the backups? I guess not….

When the same lineup for the last several games is used and same or similar results are seen, isn't it time for a change to allow others an opportunity to participate and show what they have to offer in 'real' game situations? And I don't mean bring a player in for a couple serves and/or cheap points at the end of the set or match. I MEAN give them a set or a MATCH to show their worth! Players have been recruited by the coaches yet are not fully given opportunities for success. A fifth year player gets in court for 2 points all night vs Bama after years of dedication and support to her team….Very Sad!

I understand that Coach is trying to show off this excellent recruiting class and transfers, which I'll admit does show potential, but let's not forget the TEAM aspect. If any one Aggie goes down with an injury it's next AGGIE up. If someone is not producing it SHOULD BE next AGGIE up. But never has happened that way. Is it a personality contest that allows someone to play or does hard work and dedication to the program and coaches mean anything? Are they playing to show the future looks brighter? Or are they truly the best athlete, teammate and person who deserves to be out there?

As a Aggie fan I find it hard to understand the logic in what's going on here. Can someone more knowledgeable about the Volleyball Program assist or provide some insight?

Fingers are crossed hoping the talent all stays here as an Aggie.

What bench players beating the starters have you heard please cite a source on this because when you do 6 in 6 drills sometimes the scoring is way different depending on what you are trying to accomplish. That said it has been a revolving door at OH2. Cici Mia Lexi and Faye have all played front row in that position and nobody had looked head and shoulders above the other. I could rank them in my mind based on watching the matches but even then getting a hitter to average .150 hitting percentage would be a exceptional this season. We only play three middles with one looking like injury or obvious redshirt as she isn't even dressed and all three played yesterday as well. You aren't taking Meuth or Lednicky out of their positions which leaves a rotating amount of DS of which four play pretty much each match and setter.

Other than OH2 and who has the hot hand the lineup they put out is the best lineup they can play given the current roster. The question becomes if that lineup carries a 4-8 record in SEC play and loses to the bottom of the SEC that is more roster management

The only player that we don't miss that could have contributed this season is Rush and only because Lednicky is a major improvement at the RS position. Jeter, Christon, Talbert, Austin Roark and Davis who all would have had eligibility would have made this a completely different season IMO. I am NOT putting every player on this list on the coaches. I am just saying we would be top tier SEC with those players on roster

I think Maddie Browser has done a pretty good job in the middle. Not flashy but steady. But production from the middle is way down from last season as we let Lednicky and Meuth take 80+ swings each match combined almost every time

Not to pile on, but the idea/thought/suggestion that any six bench players could consistently (or even, ever) beat a team that includes Meuth and Lednicky is simply not based in reality.

Finding consistently at the OH2 position has been problematic for two years. Last night, Lexi was clearly struggling in SR and we didn't do much to help her.

Last night was hard to watch.

Playing someone solely bc they have worked hard and been dedicated to the program is a silly suggestion. If they can't beat what is currently being put out on the floor, then the bench is the right place for them.

i am still waiting to find out about the starters losing to the bench players consistantly and constantly beat the starters from a rookie account. I have done ton of 6 on 6 bench vs starters type stuff and bench rarely if ever wins and it is usually when the game starts at like 5-0 play to 15 tyoe scenarios

Our starters can barely receive serves, I doubt our bench players can receive hits from Meuth and Lednicky lmao

We have a few bench players others have pointed out in the forum that the OH2 is about even with them all. Which is great really but when someone struggles I don't see the immediate remedy to fix the issue. (put a Sub in) or rotate the lineup some. But allowing people to hit negative or very low after multiple sets or multiple attempts without producing is silly in my eyes. Review the stats of games and sets played by backups. It's clear who has the IN and who is on the OUTS for play time.

Maddie didn't play much last season and look at her flourish this year. Great on her. But she needs help too. Molly is streaky and the freshman sits. Yes has contributed a couple great times this year but her athleticism is above so many in front of her and still waits and waits for her number to be called

It seems many coaches fail because they can't develop the talent they have into their scheme of play. Or at least fail to articulate it to players and the struggles continue. They recruit them then don't allow them to flourish.

Again, new to this Aggie network of volleyball fans but just trying to see what others thought.

We have two players with extremely high WAR's (to use baseball terminology): Lednicky and Meuth. Them and a combination of four bench players would consistently beat any other six (assuming, obviously, you give them one of the setters). I haven't seen anything from our other hitters that tells me they could consistently carry a team like those two.

May want to inquire with the players and coaches but it's been said by more than one fan while attending the game. The fans seems to be reliable ….kiddos have played there or are playing there now I've overheard it myself.

The fans KNOW what the score of internal practice games are between starters and bench players ??

I call complete BS and you made an account to make stuff up about the program in a negative way

I dont think we are on the right trejectory but other than providing stats analysis I dont say false things. There is no way fans are talking about what goes on in practice regarding game like situations.

But to clarify from your points made earlier

all three middles have started and played this season in matches

all other OH2 players have played on the outside and three have started at the position in matches. Faye being the only one i dont think who has started at this time this season but has played points and even subbed in for Mueth if I recall correctly

So if i am reading you correctly your source is FANS IN THE STANDS correct ?

Fans always are frustrated at losses, and will examine and talk about things that might improve the prospect of winning--I get that. But if you find yourself thinking (or posting) that a coach will "play favorites" instead of doing what the coach thinks will maximize the chances of winning, then you're kidding yourself. Coaches want to win, not "play favorites."

Of all the years I've been involved (and continue to be) in club and school ball at all ages, levels of play and levels of education, the one constant is that 50% of the parents hate the coach and that includes me.

straight up are you a parent of a player since you sit with them ?

new account just to rail on 6 on 6 game like stuff in practice
Other than finding an OH 2 that is consistant and picking two middles from the three that play there isnt anything else that applies....you could substitute a couple of DS for each other but that isnt going to change anything against an actual opponent

Exactly. This isn't 7th grade b team volleyball. Peoples careers and reputations are at stake. No one is playing favorites here or on any collegiate volleyball team.

To NoMasPorFavor...
if you are indeed a parent or are related to one of the players, i do understand what you are going through. It's frustrating. More than likely, every girl on the team were starters on top teams throughout club and on high school teams. It's a tough pill to swallow and also very conflicting in that you want the team to do well but selfishly you want your kid to be playing and helping the team. My family is going through that right now and it just makes us sick sometimes.

When the team your daughter is on loses to the likes of Alabama in V-Ball, it pisses everyone off, the players, the girls that did not get to play, the parents of both and the fans of the program in the stands. Coaches have a alot to account for. Plus it's a big negative to recruiting that the program is not any better than it is.

You think the coaches aren't equally angry about a loss? They hate it just as much.

Yes they do

Most VB coaches are calm when in game dealing with team so it may lool like they dont care as much because they arent in the face of the players. That doesnt work for most programs

They will get bent out of shape on calls by the officials sometimes and it can be more aggressive when they are losing but they care

No I am not a parent. And many of us fans sit in and around parents of players as they are spread out everywhere. You get to understand their issues somewhat. Facts area facts. When the top shelf starters are not producing then changes SHOULD be made. Period.

We were atop the league last season for digs and near the bottom this year. So our defensive has improved? Defensive subs should be made also. If a player can't dig or pass next Aggie up!

I started this whole topic to get some insight on what others see but all I have received is very negative comments and suggestions that I have no idea what I am saying or that what I've heard is not true.

Everything I have stated is factual based on information I know or my opinion. Just like everyone else's opinion on here. So sorry if it may differ from yours but to bad.

Many of you should be on the election ballots Tuesday cuz you're so full of BS just like those who we stuck voting for. Just because you have 1000's of posts doesn't mean you know more or less than anyone else. It just means you have more time than others to spill your useless rhetoric.

Thanks for allowing me to inquire and get your opinion of the Aggie Volleyball Program. It's been so helpful

Tell me what in your opinion should be changed from what we have on the floor currently

Nobody is suggesting Maddie Browser should not be on of the middles I would hop so thus that leaves playing either Brown or Cos-Okpalla

Brown 99kills 24 errors in 122 attempts for a .205 hitting and blocking 1 per set
Cos Okpalla 22kills 11 errors in 51 attempts for a .216 and blocking 1.57 per set

While stats wise Cos is a bit better that is not going to push the needle for this team to correct itself

as for the digs...have two players to have a higher kill percentage which is a basic measure of when they swing they terminate the point either positive (kill) or negatively (error) where as last year we had not near as many and thus longer rallies increasing our and our opponent dig totals....not to mention we have two new DS/Libero players in Hogan and Underwood on the team and only two returning in Fields and Frazier who both play as well

As for the biggest issue at OH 2 here are the stats

17 CiCi 74 kills, 38 errors on 233 attempts .155
31 Mia 33 kills 20 errors on 119 attempts .109
5 Lexi 23 kills 18 errors on 71 attempts .070
28 Faye 2 kills 1 error on 8 attempts .125

There is nothing in those stats that says one player over another and all three have been given many many opportunities in the season except maybe Faye

we are what we are

the lineup based upon the roster isnt the issue...it is what it is....no real production out of OH2 and M2

and for you to tell me that whoever of those OH2 players are on the bench side when we play the starters are going to move the needle in practice is funny and the 4 DSs we have arent going to make the hugest impact in 6 on 6 stuff or else they would be playing on the floor more during games

setter...well one was injured for a few weeks in season in a sling as wasnt the starter at the beginning anyway. The back up did ok after the first few points when she replaced the starter in middle of set 3 i believe but still we didnt win that set or the next

The issue has been RETAINING players on the roster and that lies with the staff but to tell me we dont want to win or the lineup needs to be adjusted that stats of everyone dont move it enough

We have put in different middle and lost, we have put different outsides in and lost....the key in practice and 6 on 6 to show the coaches you cant be left off the floor

if they are showing that in practice then it doesnt show up in moving the needle in games. Playing like we did the Kentucky series would put us in top 5 of the SEC IMO. Playing like we did against Alabama means we are at the bottom. We play more like we do against Alabama then we do against Kentucky which is why we are 3 from the bottom which shouldnt be the case but it is what it is

These numbers are kind of inflated due to recent results. We are a bottom 3 passing team in the SEC. I had really high hopes for Underwood but she's struggled mightily. Hogan has come on strong defensively, which is great to see, just isn't enough

It all comes back to player vs coach mentality. Players says "put me in and I will show you". Coach says "show me and I will put you in". If the player is showing she's worth being on the floor the coach will put her in.
