While we can argue about Bird as a coach. To BEAT the small schools I don't think you realize that Western Kentucky is a solid team who is on the cusp of the Sweet 16 each year. And another small school like San Diego could very well be Elite 8 this year. While the loss to Indiana was not what I thought would happen I also thought we would struggle against Western Kentucky.
Programs like ours in its current state need offensively for three girls to do well for us to win against above average competition and to compete with top 10-15 teams need four players to excel offensively. We got that triangle of offense against WKU but not against Indiana
We will need the triangle against most of the SEC and likely the four players against Kentucky Florida and Arkansas
I don't see four players hitting on all cylinders in a given match right now. And you need the passing and defense to even allow that to happen.
We should breeze past Tenn Tech today and I would put us right around 6-7 in the SEC currently with capability of being as high as 4th and as low as 10th IMO
