I agree we could get some points in the Javelin and I think Kaylah Robinson could do better than 6th. Last weekend Kaylah ran 12.80 and ease up at the line.
I expect points in the 800m as well

Form chart for men show the Aggies winning the title.
There are lots of errors in the form chart. They have Mailik Metevier from Texas Tech placing 3rd in the 400m hurdles but they have him as a Texas A&M athlete giving Texas A&M an extra 6 points.
They have Champion Alison finishing 2nd in the 400m for 8 points but they give it to Alabama instead of Florida so Florida should have an extra 8 points

I think our hurdlers can definitely score more if they stay healthy! I hope Achane can get to the finals in both the 100/200 along with Broome in the 200 and another in the 400, although that's asking for a lot! I would love to see us up there! Crazy how we possibly might not get a single point from field events outdoors. Wow

Yes - those are my sentiments; it is strange not having a premiere long or triple jumper scoring high on the medal stands. We have been spoiled with such consistency over the years. Having no javelin thrower going 240ish or more is another example how the men in the fields have had us perenially spoken for in the events; not this year. But it's also good to see our short sprinters surge to national preeminence. Historically we had many great 200 meter guys fight for the podium spots or score and our 200 squad is back. The 100 is so competitive these days that just having 1 is difficult. So we are indeed getting some flashback enjoyment from the sprints.

Long overdue. One of the GOATs

Bowerman Watch list #5.
Charokee Young was removed from the watch list and receiving votes together with Lamara Distin

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES Lamara Distin, Texas A&M (Jumps); Charokee Young, Texas A&M (Sprints)

Charokee split 49+ on the 4x400 relay and Lamara jumped 1.97m this past weekend. Texas A&M is just getting a raw deal in every sport
What do they want these athletes do again to be on the watch List? This is atrocious.

Imagine the traitor is still on the list. See the justification below for her being still on the list. She ran a 23.45 wind aided in the 200m. Like if that time will win the NCAA. Just crazy.

Quote:

Gittens, who hails from Saint Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago, added the 200 to her repertoire this season, running a wind-aided 23.45 that compares favorably to her 23.43 PR from last year. Otherwise, the high jump and long jump have dominated her schedule. She has won at least one of the events in each of her outdoor meets thus far this year three in the long jump and one in the high jump. She's the only woman among the top-5 in both events with seasonal bests of 1.95m (6-4) and a wind-aided 6.82m (22-4), respectively. A finalist for The Bowerman last year, she is the career active leader among women's Watch List appearances with 12.

Isn't Deborah Acquah with the top long jump mark and a top 4 mark in the triple jump. So she is also top 5 in both events. Deborah has also run a 11.5 in the 100m. So the Bowerman watch lists justification is just trash.

I feel like they just include her because she was a finalist last year. She's not even the most deserving on her own team lol. Lamara almost beat her using a short approach, and multiple women will beat her in the long jump. If she was doing the hep, then it would be a different story. She didn't even PR in a windy 200 lol, but somehow that is justification lol. You can tell they're trying so hard

She'd be close to 7000 in the hep had she stayed here... and she knows that too.

they put The LSU girl on who was out last week when Charokee was on. The LSU girl didn't win a championship indoor nor did Charokee but the LSU girl had a higher all time performance over Charokee. So I can understand this one but Lamara has done more than Tyra on the high jump this year and finished better than Tyra did outdoor last year.

I presume they know Lamara and Charokee are worthy; they only want to be on the safe side recognizing that if Tyra does the Hep she would be noteworthy of potential scoring points of all time like last year and they don't want to prematurely take her off given the potential. They know, however, and Tyra has Championship week only to make her last chance impression. Given that Young and Distin continue to do well at SEC and Tyra doesn't make a big splach atop the leaderboard of both events, she will undoubtedly drop off because Lamara is more deserving at this point according to the yearly stats but not historically. Historical stats will mean nothing next week after championship week. So we can be patient two more weeks from today 5/4/202 and hope our girls do well.

Truth be told if Charokee improves .3 sec she is automatically on that list as she will have a #2 or #1 all time performance pushing LSU off. If Distin improves1 inch she would be all time top 2 and would force Tyra off that list(barring Tyra ascending to the top of both outdoor performance lists). Diston won indoors and Tyra did not. If Tyra doesnt hit the top of the performance list she shouldnt be the favorite going into the high jump nor will they allow her to be on the next list. They will hope she comes through at Nationals so they can put her on again but not for the next list. Acquah staying above Tyra on the long jump list will solidify her removal. If she pops off at 46'6" and wins the long jump with a performance leading long jump then Acquah will be put on the list too for recving votes

The Bowerman isn't about top 5. It's top spots only. Putting someone who doesn't lead the NCAA in anything above two people leading the WORLD in their events is blasphemy. Agree with the Acquah point as well.

That is a courtesy inclusion based only on being a finalist last year (at Texas A&M).

I think she is good enough to win the long jump...but that's not what the stats say right now. Debbie should be in there before her. The Bowerman is not a career award.

You're exactly right! The Bowerman Award holds itself to a high standard and regard. They named her a finalist last very deservedly so, so she joins an elite selective group of Bowerman finalists. They don't want to seem like they were wrong or that they made a mistake. I feel she's there on name recognition and her accomplishments as an Aggie. Indoors she got a second and a freaking 11th lol. It's sad she's on the list, when others are much more deserving.

We can also argue the point that both Distin and Acquah (world leaders) have also made the world championship qualifying standard in the high jump and long jump and most likely represent Jamaica and Ghana. Charokee Young has the qualifying standard in the 400m and should be on the Jamaican team pending her position at the Jamaican trials.
Another person on the Bowerman has yet to make the World championship qualifying standard in her events

Tierra Robinson-Jones (Masters of Sport Management), Ricky Waer (Masters of Sport Management), and Julia Black, (Masters of Hospitality Management) have all been accepted and will continue their education at Texas A&M. If they have eligibility due to the covid year, they could compete again for us next year. Would be huge for the girls team!

Wondering if she will still be on the Bowerman List having finished 3rd in both long jump and high jump at the Big 12 Championship with 6.57m in the long jump and 1.80m in the high jump. She has really underperformed since leaving us. It is sad to see her go through this for money.

And they've had her listed as a multi this whole season, yet she didn't compete in one. Last year was she was attempting 6'6 at the conference multi high jump, this year she struggled to barely get over at 5'10 and couldn't go any further… but hopefully she's enjoying 6th street, homeless people, and traffic

So many sub 11 and low 22 seconds in the NCAA women's 100m and 200m. Similarly so many sub 10 seconds and sub 20 seconds in the men's 100m and 200m. I am longing to see the Aggies put some amazing times in the men's and women's 100m and 200m. Hoping we can see some of this by next year.

We have a very good 2022 recruiting class but we still need to build some depth in some areas. We need some important long and triple jumpers on both men and women's side (to replace Acquah and Zhane) and maybe a few women throwers from the transfer portal or Junior College who can score at SEC's and Nationals.

On the distance side we have done very well with the crew we have but if we can get 1 or 2 top distance runners who can contribute nationally can only be a positive step for the program and recruiting. It could have been a dream come through to get Natalie Cook here to contribute and help with recruiting top distance runners but I guess her family and others don't think highly of our distance program. Maybe a couple of international distance runners could be the key.
