Yeah they're field event girls are a little hard to rely on! They can just as easily not score! We really need their 400 girls to fade back and score as little as well as Tava-Thomas and Annelus in the sprints. I was feeling a little discouraged yesterday seeing them do well, but now I feel a lot better about our chances if we take care of business. Tava-Thomas, Annelus, their 3 400 runners are all doubling, with Terry tripling. Fatigue can play a factor down the homestretch in a fast competitive meet like this! The 200 and 4x400 can come back to bite them!

In approximately an hour Tyra Gittens will begin the women's heptathlon. The first event is the 100 hurdles in which Tyra has a wind legal best of 13.21 and a wind aided 13.14! Anything around 13.3 is good start for Tyra! Thankfully she's in a FAST heat with two runners Erin Marsh (Duke) and Michelle Atherly (Miami) with faster hurdle PB's! Tyra will definitely be pushed and should get off to a great start in the Heptathlon!
Also just a reminder that all the heptathlon events can be live streamed on ESPN 3 on the ESPN app! The 100 hurdles will have a separate stream so once the hurdles are done you'll have to go find the Heptathlon High Jump stream on the ESPN app as well! Or just follow along with all of our updates here lol

She's good, faster than she ran when she posted the 3rd best collegiate heptathlon performance of all time! Next up is high jump where she should get the lead and never look back!

Yeah that surprised me a little! She did stand straight up out of the blocks though, but I don't think the ankle will be a factor!

I think USC is the only team that stand in our way of the women's Natty. LSU faded yesterday. USC has put a lot of "miles" of their legs through prelims. Oh nothing bad, just that Tyra's first height attempt is at 5'8.75 but everyone else opened up way below like around 5'1/5'3! Right now people are attempting 5'6

Interesting how they broke down the hept high jump flights. The msu girl in flight 1 has jumped well before.

Do the jumpers have a time limit in which to take their jumps once the officials set the bar up?
I believe once she steps on the runway the timer begins of around 30 seconds to begin her rep! They should allow to rest a little i between jumps but she was rushing them herself! I think she was just anxious to jump big!
