Riley? Dorothy? I guess Dorothy graduated.

Also Jessica? Is she on team?

I do not believe Jessica is playing anymore.

Decent chance Katya doesn't crack the top 6 this year due to shoulder surgery and the ladies coming in. Tatiana may stay at 1, but 2-4 could be better players. Jayci at 5-6 is a definite possibility.

Given the news of Katya, here is my new lineup!

1. Tatiana
2. Carson
3. Giana
4. Jayci
5. Renee
6. Mary

I don't see how Renee makes the lineup with Jeanette coming in. I think Tatiana and Jayci are the only returners in the top 6.

Renees serve is a huge liability.

But how do you replace experience with Jeanette? Renee has won a lot of big matches for us. Jeanette seems like a potential contributor, but I don't see how that over comes a 4th year player

There are several high school players that are better than current college players, tennis is a sport where it's easier for younger players to be better than more established players as it doesn't require physical maturing (I.e., like football, swimming, some track events, etc).

I played and coached collegiately. Sometimes I'd take experience over a young gun. Not saying she won't take her spot. Renee has won probably over 100 total matches in her A&M days. Curious to see how the ladder works out with all the talent coming in.

I'd doubt Renee would come come back for her senior year and ride the bench

Based on UTR team will be
1. Branstine
2. Makarova
3. Stoiana
4. Goldsmith
5. Pielet
6. Townsend
7. Mireles
8. Pittman
9. Mcbryde

Think the top 5 will be some combination of that and who knows after that. Going to be an exciting year for Mark's girls! Are we worried we will lose the assistant soon?

I don't see Jordan going anywhere anytime soon.

Could this be one of the best teams we have ever had?

Same here - played in college (haven't coached), so definitely appreciate your insight and info and didn't mean to undermine any of your previous posts or thoughts. To me, Renee isn't reliable in big matches because she goes as her serve goes, and it sometimes (often) doesn't go... she has so much natural power and ability, but her movement and mind really limit her in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised to see a talented freshman come in and beat her out. I also doubt that Mark hinted at her possibly riding the pine, I bet he let's it play out on court...which is the fairest thing to do.
Ag4eva95
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No I agree, you never know which version of Renee will show up. It could be a collegiate top100 player or someone who would barely crack the lineup at a low end P5 school. While serving is an issue, I think it's an overall consistency issue

I don't see Constance on the roster just posted? Any idea of why she isn't yet on it? Is she a spring enrollee?

Freshmen Jeanette won 2 matches against #76 and #37 players in the country this weekend. I watched her and she was impressive! I think she is going to be a potentially great doubles player from watching her court skills.

#37 player has been Baylor's #1 player for the last 3 years.
#76 was Tulsa's #2 player the last few years

Very impressive especially considering she was only the third highest rated recruit out of the four current freshman. Could be a special season!

Anyone know why the other freshman didn't play this tournament? I have seen Jeanette play, she's a beast. I said it before there is a chance that our number 2 moves down 4/5 that's how good the freshman are…

Pielet? I can't remember how the pre-qualifying and ITAs work re selection of participants?

Pielet did not play in the All American. Played a pro tournament in Lubbock last week and beat a former top 300 wta player with a current 11+ UTR which is higher that anyone on our roster.

Why not play the all american tournament? Is she thinking of turning pro? Better prep?

Could go through qualies for qualies for main draw of All American, or play a pro tournament that she was automatically in. No brainer.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The All Americans for the women are much smaller draws than the men and because of this only Tatiana made main draw singles, Jayci and Tatiana made main draw doubles, and Mary was given a wildcard into the qualifying. There was no Pre-qualifying. The tournament is being played on clay.

And yes, I believe her goal is to turn pro at some point. I'm sure all of these tournaments were discussed in her recruitment.

New commit: Lizanne Boyer

I don't see her being a contributor. More of a depth/walk on type of player. Don't see much potential for an impact

Well Ags, the long story short is this, Mark and Jordan are going to have a different set of problems going into this year, and it's the type of problem ever coach in the country would LOVE to have. That is, what in the world is the lineup going to be? We have 4-5 players that could easily start at #1 at any other SEC school and 3 other upperclassmen that have held down their positions VERY well over the last 2-3 years. I think everyone who has posted here agrees with that fact. Mind you that's on the singles lineup. Doubles is an entirely different story. Barring any unforeseen catastrophe, Tatiana and Jayci are still the pair at the top I just can't see anything YET to dissuade me from that observation. Chemistry, playing ability, and communication between them is unmatched. 2 and 3 doubles are entirely different. But that's where we have the best chance to score big. Jeanette and Gianna showed signs of brilliance in Houston as a team, given time to work together and improve their communication on the court they should be awesome. Never have seen Constance in person, hopefully she can mesh with Mary, Ellie, or Katya and solidify a strong third doubles team. Beyond that one of the most wonderful situations we now have, for at least this year, if someone gets hurt or needs time to recoup after an especially trying match on a Friday, Mark can just dial up one of the other players to play on Sunday. When Dorthea ran into the fence the first time we played Georgia last year at the SEC tournament and hurt her elbow at the SEC tournament we were pretty much stuck not having a viable substitute. The drop off was just too great. No offense intended for Jessica or Elise who made the trip. That's not going to be the case this year and maybe next. For years I've held my breath whenever we lost the doubles point. Not anymore, at least not for this year. You watch these women play tennis it's become a thing of beauty. Being down 0-1 isn't fun, don't get me wrong. But this year I can see us climbing out of that hole much more easily. Just by elimination our bottom 3 are going to be unbeatable no matter how you slice it. Gianna (Pialet) definitely proved herself as the top dog of the fish in Houston and rightfully so. Enter Constance (Branston) and that evaluation may change. Jeanette (Mireles) is another very strong player, but her stamina didn't equal that of Gianna in Houston. Understanding that condition can change if she wants to put the time in to improve that. Ellie (Pittman) is fun to watch, animated, fisty, vocal, and fairly accurate with her shots but it appears she gets impatient and instead of dictating play she tries to get her killer shot in too quick and when her opponent makes the return she'll be just a half step shy of making the return. I haven't physically seen Mary (Stoiana) play yet but reading the reviews from the Texas ITA's the word dominating sounds impressive. And Mark and Jordan don't mince words when they talk of her ability. So all that said to come to this, we will most likely look like we did in spring 2019 with 4 fish on the court with a couple of upperclassmen. The difference is, this year when we make the finals in the SEC tournament we will bring back some hardware, and (provided we remain relatively injury free, meaning we haven't had to revamp our lineup) when we head to Illinois for the championships we won't be done at 16, or even 8.

Bigfoot, not to steal your thunder about Tatiana turning pro, but you may want to talk to the horse to see if it wants to run in that field. When I approached Tati about that topic earlier she was very noncommittal about it. Citing money as a potential obstacle. So unless some other Ags want to ante up like I have for several of our players when that decision is made she is perfectly happy starting a life with a family.

Pro tennis is a very hard life. I was close with the Baylor program for many years and going pro is hard.

As for the lineup, I am curious. I feel like there could be a battle for #1. Carson is playing some good tennis during her rehab. Beat some notable names recently.

1&2: Tati and Carson
3, 4, &5: Mary, Jaci, Gianna
6: Katya, Renne, Jeanette,

Renee has not had a good fall. I hope she gets it together, but she might just be a doubles player come spring

I wasn't talking about Tatiana turning pro, but rather one of the freshmen eventually turning pro.
