I just discovered this amazing thread...

1944, thank you for your service to our country and for sharing these incredible photos.

I live in Norway presently and am pleased to report that many (older, at least) folks here still feel great respect for what American men like you did to put out their "house fire" 70 years ago.

I will very much look forward to your next update. Gig 'em!

Still love this thread, five years later. Old photos like these always make me wonder about the lives of those depicted- what happened to them, where did they go after A&MC. Great stuff, '44.

These are some pictures that Gaines Baty asked me to post to this thread. These photos are from his book he is publishing about his father, Buryl Baty. Buryl played for A&M in the 40's including a break to serve in the war. One of the pictures is actually of the VE Day parade in Luxemburg in 1945. The book is called Champions of the Barrio and is coming out this month. You guys should check it out on Amazon.

Cannot believe I have missed this thread. Greatness.

Question about returning to A&M after World War II. If a veteran resumed studies as a Sophomore or Junior, were they given Senior privileges for the duration? I have a hard time imagining vets coming back from VE or VJ and having to answer to a Senior that stayed on campus during the war.

When we came back from the war we came back as civilian-non military.
