this is my favorite thread ever on Texags and I've been here since 1999. There isn't anything that I can say that hasn't been said here.

Thank you sir for your pictures and sharing your memories with us. Its people like you who made this nation great. Thank you for a reminder of our rich history both as Americans and as Aggies.

Great journey through time! Do you know if any of the Life pictures were published and if so, what date. I looked up all the magazines from Feb 1949, but did not find anything about a&m.

Very very moving..

After looking through your pictures, i think now, more so than ever I truly understand what it means to be an Aggie. The traditions mentioned at my time there usuallly just went in one ear out of the other.

It's amazing to see where we came from and how "Aggieland" truly took shape over the last century.

Thanks for sharing and many thanks for your service to our country.

have you ever thought about getting those pictures retouched and selling the prints ? honestly, that IS Aggie history right before our eyes.

I would love to hang some of those in my house. Giving you full credit of course !

W H SEELE - how about sharing the photos of your granddad's ol' Army days...those would be way cool!

Aggie1944 - I really enjoyed your photos; man, you've already posted more than I ever took when I was in school (didn't have a decent camera or the money to buy/process film back then)

Great pictures. My Dad and Uncle were both class of 40. My uncle played clarinet in the FTAB.. I found a letter that my Uncle wrote to my grandmother while he was in the Hospital in Colorado sometime in 1942 about how he and a buddy left after football season in 41 and hitchhiked in uniform from CS to detroit and then went over into Canada and joined the RCAF. Flew in England until Sept of 42 and then Joined the 8th AF. He ended up not liking the Heavies and transferred to pursuit aircraft then back into Medium Bombers. Which in turn got him sent to the Pacific. He flew B-25's and A-20's. Had double the points he needed to come home but as his former XO told me a few years ago when I talked to him their were 2 types of men in the service then the ones who did their time and came home and men like my Uncle who were either going to walk on the streets of Tokyo or come home with the colors covering them... He Was KIA over Luzon the ROP in May of 1945... Lost my Dad in 1991... This is what makes the men of your generation HEROES>>>>

Thank you for sharing Aggie1944. After all you've done for our country you have just managed to help keep the Aggies of yesterday connected with the Aggies of Today. The very thing that makes being an Aggie so special.

The beautiful young lady at the train station is probably around 80 years old today, if still alive. I hope she is still alive.

She would make for an interesting interview!
