Super pick.

Super Sorrell.

On Saturday, Caden Sorrell became the second Aggie to be taken in the 2026 MLB Draft when the Chicago Cubs took the Texas A&M legend in the second round with the 62nd overall pick.

Earlier in the day, Chris Hacopian was selected 11th overall by Washington.

Entering this weekend’s draft, MLB.com listed the outfielder as the No. 33 draft-eligible prospect. On a 20-80 scale, Sorrell was rated 50 overall, with his run (60) and arm (60) impressing scouts the most.

As a junior in 2026, the 6-foot-3 and 210-pounder hit .341 with a 1.177 OPS in 56 games for the Aggies. With 20 doubles and 23 home runs, Sorrell became A&M’s first 20-20 player since Daylan Holt in 1999. His 76 RBI equaled Scott Livingstone’s 1987 total for eighth most in program history.

Sorrell’s standout season garnered him first-team All-American honors in addition to first-team all-conference and a spot on the All-SEC Defensive Team. Further, he was a Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist.

Across three seasons in College Station, Sorrell appeared in 144 games for the Maroon & White, owning a .316 career average with an OPS of 1.094. As a rookie in 2024, he played in 62 games with 48 starts on an A&M club that finished as the national runner-up.

Saturday is just another reminder of Sorrell’s greatness.

This Aggie is super.
