Texas A&M softball (20-12) annihilated Abilene Christian (17-16) on Friday night at Davis Diamond with an 18-0 run-rule victory, setting the tone for the three-game series against the Wildcats.

“Every person who got up to the plate had an opportunity to score a run. I don’t think that’s ever happened in my career,” Texas A&M head coach Jo Evans said postgame. “It’s just nice because you have those people coming off the bench that are working just as hard as everybody else. and when they get an opportunity, you're pulling so hard for them to have success.

“I’m pleased to see them be able to jump in.”

Two strikeouts from freshman pitcher Emiley Kennedy kept ACU from scoring early on, holding the offense to hitless across the first three innings.

In the second, the Aggies registered consecutive doubles from Katie Dack and Morgan Smith with a Cayden Baker sacrifice fly putting Texas A&M on the board first.

The third inning saw Rylen Wiggins slam a home run followed by a series of hits by Trinity Cannon and Dack securing a four-run lead for the Aggies.

Wiggins’ bomb was her team-leading eighth of the season.

The Aggies took off and never looked back.

In the fourth, Mayce Allen lined a two-run single with Makinzy Herzog following up with a two-run hit of her own. Not to be outdone, Dack smashed a two-run bomb as the Aggies pushed ahead 10-0 with no outs.

The momentum continued as Baker collected her first homer of the season with a two-run blast. Following a pitching change by the Wildcats, the Aggies blazed ahead unfazed, capitalizing on a number of errors to push the score up to 18-0.

“I think we can celebrate our win tonight but come in tomorrow with the same energy, not expecting it to be the same game,” Dack said. “We just have to expect something different.”

The Aggies will return to Davis Diamond tomorrow at 2 p.m. to continue the series against Abilene Christian.
