During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the hardwood, the diamonds and beyond as there is plenty going on with Texas A&M Athletics.


Baseball (3-0, 0-0 in SEC)
Texas A&M opened the Jim Schlossnagle era with a series sweep of Fordham over the weekend at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in a three-game set that featured something of everything.

  • Friday: Texas A&M 13, Fordham 1
    • Trevor Werner: 3-for-4, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB
    • Nathan Dettmer: W, 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K

  • Saturday: Texas A&M 5, Fordham 3
    • Werner: 2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R (Through three games, Werner is hitting .500)
    • Micah Dallas: W, 6.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K - First win as an Aggie
    • Robert Hogan: S, 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K - First collegiate save
  • Sunday: Texas A&M 5, Fordham 4
    • Logan Britt: Two-run walk-off home run in the ninth, winning a nine-pitch at-bat
    • Jack Moss: 2-for-4 - Only Aggie to record a hit vs. starter Jack Popolizio
    • Chris Cortez: W, 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 11 pitches - First collegiate win
    • Texas A&M trailed 4-1 in the seventh.

The Aggies are back on Tuesday night as they host Lamar at Olsen Field.

  • First pitch is scheduled for 6:32 p.m. CT, and the game will be streamed on the SEC Network+.

Softball (11-0, 0-0 in SEC)
Jo Evans & Co. continued their undefeated start with a 5-0 showing in the Texas A&M Invitational at Davis Diamond. The 11-0 start is the Aggies’ best start since 2018, when they started 10-0. On the weekend, A&M outscored its opponents 42-7.

    • Makinzy Herzog: W, 6.0 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K - NO-HITTER
    • Rylen Wiggins: 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, 1 R
    • Seven different Aggies scored a run, and seven different Aggies registered a hit.

  • Friday: Texas A&M 4, Missouri 1
    • Emiley Kennedy: W, 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
    • Mayce Allen: 1-for-3, HR
  • Saturday: Texas A&M 7, Stephen F. Austin 5
    • SFA led 3-0 going into the bottom of the third. Two runs in the third and three in the fourth put A&M up, 5-3.
    • Kennedy, in relief: W (4-0), 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
    • Herzog: 1-for-4, bases-clearing 2B in the fourth, 4 total RBI
  • Saturday: Texas A&M 10, Pittsburgh 0 (5 innings)

    • Haley Lee and Morgan Smith each hit home runs

Equestrian (9-1, 5-0 in SEC)
No. 2 Texas A&M stretched its winning streak to eight consecutive meets with a 10-9 win over South Carolina at Hildebrand on Saturday.

  • The Aggies won the fences competition, 3-2.
  • Kaitlyn Lovingfoss won Most Outstanding Performer honors for a high score of 88.
  • In horsemanship, Hayley Riddle earned Most Outstanding Performer honors with a score of 78. It is Riddle's third MOP of the season.

The Aggies hit the road this weekend to face No. 3 Auburn.

  • The meet begins at 10 a.m. CT, and it will not be televised.

Men's Basketball (16-11, 5-9 in SEC)
The Aggies were unable to string back-to-back wins together as they suffered a loss on the road to Vanderbilt, 72-67.

  • The Aggies erased a 10-point deficit and led by four with 7:13 remaining.
  • Quenton Jackson scored a team-high 23 points.
  • Hassan Diarra and Tyrece Radford also scored in double digits with 13 and 12, respectively.

Texas A&M returns to Reed Arena on Tuesday night as they host the Georgia Bulldogs.

  • Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
  • The Aggies defeated the Bulldogs in Athens on Jan. 4, 81-79.

Women's Basketball (14-12, 4-10 in SEC)
Despite fighting back from a seven-point, fourth-quarter deficit, Texas A&M ultimately fell to Alabama in double overtime on Sunday night at Reed Arena, 81-79.

  • With the score tied 63-63, Alabama’s Abrams made a layup with 1.4 seconds to play in the fourth. On a perfect inbound play, Aaliyah Patty made a layup to tie as time expired in regulation.
  • Qadashah Hoppie scored a team-high 16 points.
  • Kayla Wells (15), Sydnee Roby (11), Patty (11) and Destiny Pitts (10) joined Hoppie in double figures.
  • Patty added 12 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Texas A&M returns to Reed Arena on Thursday night for their final home game of the season as the Aggies host No. 1 South Carolina.

  • Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
  • Prior to tipoff, Gary Blair will be honored and "Gary Blair Court” will officially be dedicated ahead of the legendary head coach's final game at Reed Arena.

Men's Golf
Sam Bennett posted a career-best 8-under 64 in the final round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Saturday to finish tied for second.

  • Bennett finished 11-under on the weekend.
  • As a team, the Aggies finished fifth in the 18-team field at 4-under.

Texas A&M is back in action next week in the Coral Creek Club Invitational in Placida, FL.

  • The tournament begins on Monday, Feb. 28, and concludes on Tuesday, March 1.

Women's Golf
Gerrod Chadwell and the Aggies begin their spring season this week in the ICON at the Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course in Humble.

  • The event begins on Monday, Feb. 22, and will conclude on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Women’s Tennis (13-1, 0-0 in SEC)
The Aggies won a pair on Saturday, taking down both TCU and Abilene Christian at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

  • No. 9 Texas A&M 5, TCU 2
    • The Aggies won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Tatiana Makarova won her match over Alisa Soloveva in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
    • Mary Stoiana won her match over Mercedes Aristegui in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
    • Jayci Goldsmith won her match over Stevie Kennedy in straight sets (6-4, 7-5).
    • Renee McBryde won her match over Jade Otway after dropping the first set (2-6, 6-4, 6-1).
  • No. 9 Texas A&M 6, Abilene Christian 1
    • The Aggies won the double point, 2-0.
    • Goldsmith won her match over Maryjoe Crisologo in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
    • Gianna Pielet won her match over Allison Stewart in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
    • Katya Townsend won her match over Sylvia Viljoen via a tiebreaker (6-4, 4-6, 1-0).
    • Ellie Pittman won her match over Andrea Guerrero in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).
    • Isa Di Laura won her match over Claire Fisher via a tiebreaker (3-6, 6-1, 1-0).

Men's Tennis (6-3, 0-0 in SEC)
The Aggies suffered three consecutive losses this weekend in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle.
