During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fish bowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as there is plenty to run down from the hardwood, the diamonds, the tennis courts, and much more.


Women’s Basketball (21-1, 12-1 in SEC play)
No. 3 Texas A&M traveled to Tuscaloosa and won a grinder of a game against Alabama, 73-67.

  • The Aggies have now won nine consecutive games.
  • Five Aggies scored in double-figures as Kayla Wells, and Jordan Nixon led the Maroon & White with 16 points each.
  • N’dea Jones posted another double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

No. 3 Texas A&M will play for the Southeastern Conference regular-season crown on Sunday afternoon as they host No. 5 South Carolina at Reed Arena.

  • Tip-off for the regular-season finale is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN2.

Men’s Golf
Texas A&M swept this week’s Border Olympics tournament in Laredo, Texas, at the Laredo Country Club.

  • As a team, the Aggies won the tournament by eight strokes, finishing 2-under-par for the tournament.
  • Senior Dan Erickson won the individual championship, finishing 4-under-par for the event.

The Aggies travel to San Antonio next week to play in the Cabo Collegiate at TPC San Antonio. The tournament begins on Monday, March 1, and runs through Wednesday, March 3.

Baseball (2-3, 0-0 in SEC play)
Texas A&M struggled in their midweek contests this week as the Aggies’ disappointing start continued.

The Aggies travel to Round Rock for their only showcase tournament weekend of the season in the Round Rock Classic at Dell Diamond.

  • Friday: Baylor at 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: Oklahoma at 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: Auburn at 11:00 a.m.
    • All three games this weekend will be aired on FloBaseball, which is a subscription streaming service.

Swimming & Diving
The 2021 SEC Championships in Columbia, Missouri, continue through Friday as men’s swimming is the last to wrap up.

  • The competition began on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The entire event can be streamed on the SEC Network+.

Several Aggies have earned a spot on the podium in their respective events.

Men’s Basketball (8-7, 2-6 in SEC play)
Texas A&M had their eighth-consecutive game postponed due to COVID-19 issues as the Aggies’ Feb. 27 game with Missouri became the latest to be pushed back.

  • The Aggies are scheduled to return on Wednesday, March 3, as they host Mississippi State at Reed Arena.
  • Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT and will air on the SEC Network.

It was announced that Texas A&M’s road game with Arkansas, originally scheduled for Feb. 6, has been rescheduled for March 6 in Fayetteville.

Men’s Tennis (6-1, 2-0 in SEC play)
No. 10 Texas A&M defeated No. 16 Kentucky, 6-1, as the Aggies stayed undefeated in SEC play.

  • The Aggies took the doubles point, 2-0.
  • Valentin Vacherot won his match in straight sets (7-6; 6-3)
  • Hady Habib won his match in straight sets (6-3; 6-3)
  • Noah Schachter won his match in three sets (6-3; 3-6; 6-1)
  • Raphael Perot won his match in a tiebreaker third set (6-7; 6-3; 1-0)
  • Guido Marson won his match in straight sets (7-6; 7-5)

On Wednesday, Valentin Vacherot was named the SEC Player of the Week.

The Aggies are back at it on Friday night as they host No. 18 South Carolina at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The action begins at 6:00 p.m. CT.

Softball (3-2, 0-0 in SEC play)
The Texas A&M Invitational concluded on Monday as the Aggies defeated Central Arkansas, 2-0.

The Aggies had the midweek off and will continue their season this weekend with a three-game set against Tulsa at Davis Diamond.

Track & Field
Texas A&M is currently running in the SEC Indoor Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, but Pat Henry mentioned that his team is dealing with COVID-19 issues this week.

  • The three-day competition began on Thursday, Feb. 25 and will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Soccer (8-2, 7-1 in SEC play)
The Aggies are back in action this weekend with another exhibition match, this time on the road against Baylor. The Ags and Bears kick-off at 5:00 p.m. CT at Waco’s Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The match will not be televised.

Volleyball (6-4, 6-4 in SEC play)
The Aggies had their matches with No. 3 Kentucky postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the A&M program.

Equestrian (2-3, 1-3 in SEC play)
No. 5 Texas A&M returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 27, when the Aggies travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face the ninth-ranked Gamecocks.

  • The meet begins at 9:00 a.m. CT and will not be televised.

Women’s Tennis (6-2, 0-0 in SEC play)
Positive COVID-19 cases kept the Aggies last week, but the Maroon & White travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face the Gamecocks on Friday, Feb. 26. The match begins at 4:00 p.m. CT.
