8 knee surgeries, bone-on-bone & arthritis in both knees. 2 herniated discs in my lower back (L4/L5 & L5/S1), and a couple shoulder scopes.
Answers to the name Lucky. Seriously though, dang man! I'd say you definitely have "medical reasons" no doubt! Again, everything you are doing is working and I'd say would qualify as intense training.
Somebody once said that "football isn't a contact sport, it's a collision sport" and they were right. Then when the docs said I couldn't play football anymore I tried to play rugby. And while I didn't compete I trained in an MMA gym for a while where I was a sparring partner with guys trying to become professional fighters- I got my ass kicked a lot. Especially doing the Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
A glutton for punishment!. Switch from football to rugby, which is football with no pads and less rules to protect the athlete. Then MMA? Have you tried alligator wrestling yet?

A very important question is how many have died from Covid after being vaccinated. I doubt very many have. Nor have very many suffered prolonged effects from getting covid after being vaccinated. Another reason why this is specifically a "pandemic" of the unvaccinated. As sad as it may be, do we really need more polies and mandates for something that mostly effects those who chose not to vaccinate?

Except we do not need more policies and mandates as you're very unlikely to even end up in the hospital or die without the vaccine. This is the biggest misconception about the virus and is eaten up by those who have been working from home or who are older.

I would agree that you're unlikely to end up hospitalized if you get Covid and are unvaccinated but I would also counter that of those that do end up hospitalized from Covid are overwhelmingly unvaccinated and in many hospitals they are running out of room. I would be really pissed if a lived one of mine was in a wreck for instance and they couldn't get them in a room because a bunch of people chose not to get vaccinated based on bad misinformation. I don't want mandates either but I do wish some of the anti vax people would be more reasonable also. Pfizer just got full FDA approval so some were using that as an excuse to not get it, let's see if they change their tune.

Your loved one shouldn't be selfish and driving. 99.9% of the people that end up in the hospital after a car wreck were using a vehicle for transportation. Maybe your loved one should be kind and looking out for his fellow man and should get vaccinatederrr, stay home and not use a vehicle.

I was 19-20 when I went to rugby. And the MMA really wasn't bad on the knees, it was more going into the office with a black eye. And of course the first rule of Fight Club is that you do not talk about Fight Club...

I know 2 people personally who have passed due to Covid-19:

  • My mom, 66 - August 2020. She spent a month in the ICU prior to passing. This was early-ish in the pandemic and she was completely cut-off from the outside world - no visitors and couldn't communicate via phone due to being on a ventilator. I'm convinced that this partially contributed to her passing. Mental health can be just as important as physical.
  • My brother, 46 - August 2021 (1.5 wks ago) Vaccinated. Tested positive on Monday, hospitalized on Friday, moved to ICU Sunday morning, passed away a few hours later. 3 others in his house also tested positive, but recovered fine at home and were never hospitalized.

Both were overweight and had some other health issues, but still had plenty of life to live. My family's been hit pretty hard.

You have my deepest sympathies.

I haven't lost a family member, but have lost 4 church members, all of whom chose not to be vaccinated.

It's heartbreaking, really.

My uncle passed from covid in March. He was on vent for about 10 days in early January and then oxygen after. But then bounced from rehab to hospital due to complications. They told him he'd never walk again and would need a traich tube and bedridden. He also failed swallow test. So he decided to stop treatment and passed peacefully.

Yes, he was overweight. Yes, he had a lot of underlying medical conditions. But it didn't make the experience any less heartbreaking and tough to watch.

ETA: he didn't have a wife or kids, so he was like another grandpa to me since mine passed in 2005.

Well now I know 2 this week. Coworkers wife died on Monday. She went to the Valley to help relatives, came back to Austin, and a week and a half later passed. She was 52 and petite.

Today a nurse friend passed in Hays county. She was a nurse here in Kyle.

Neighbor's 35 yo husband passed away this week. Went to the hospital over the weekend. Dad bod but not crazy fat or distinct beer belly. Not sure if he was vaccinated, never came up and felt weird to ask once she announced it. Had two middle schoolers.

In time there has got to be some sort of genetic sequencing research because there are plenty of people who should have been absolutely hammered by covid who barely got sick and others in pretty decent shape without other risk factors get knocked on their ass and some died.

There has to be some sort of physiological difference that's not apparent on the surface. Perhaps at the genetic level.

Or maybe it's because I used to eat tacos off street carts in border towns before the risk of lead poisoning got too high that gave me a strong immune system.
Could also be as simple as the amount you are exposed to

Perhaps.

But that also wouldn't explain the people who either don't get sick or barely get sick at all in the cases like where a husband or wife gets it and the spouse doesn't. IIRC, you're most contagious right before you exhibit symptoms so presumably the couple would be in close contact for extended periods of time and of course "exchanging fluids."

I can now add two more people that I know personally who have died.

My cousin and her husband, both in their late 60's and unvaccinated. They spent almost two weeks in the hospital. Yesterday my cousin decided to have them remove the breathing machine and go. When her husband heard that she had made that decision he did the same. She died first. He a few hours later.

I still don't know anyone who has had any kind of really bad reaction to the vaccine. A few hours of fever or aches, yes, but nothing worth getting worried about.

They literally could not move. The machine was breathing for them, and every time they moved their oxygen levels would drop through the floor. They were in separate ICU rooms because that's the way ICU rooms work.

She was told there was nothing more to be done so she told them to pull it out and let her go.

I don't think they were worried about whether they were in the same room. Their children were with them. He lasted a few hours and was able to give away his rings and a few personal items, and say goodbye.

I get to add one more to my tally tonight. I just got word that the husband of a friend of mine at Book Club lost her husband today. She told me they weren't getting the vaccine because they were worried about "long term consequences." She's sick herself, but not as sick as he was.

It's so sad.

How do you know the vaccine killed them or are people just attributing any death sometime after vaccine to being caused by it?

I just had the first person I know die from Covid. A former coworker. His heart had complications from it. Had to have a pacemaker implanted two weeks after getting Covid and still died a month later.

He was in his 40s and in good shape. No idea if he had any prior heart conditions.

I am not aware if he had taken the vaccine.
