while that is a great idea, i'm going to go out on a limb and say that it may be too late for that to have a positive impact on our ability to contain the virus in the US.
Are we talking masks now? Sure I'm game until this blows over.
Are we talking masks forever? Then no, I'm not going to live my life like I'm in a Beijing Airport.
Reading all the posts on here, there sure seems to be quite a few that can't seem to see that this WILL PASS. Maybe 1 month, 6 months or 2 years, it will pass. No, we should NOT get to a point where we make these procedures "the norm". The real goal is to adhere to these procedures to shorten the duration. Think Sherman's March through the South, or the Allied Bomber campaign in WWII. Do you want a long drawn out war that really costs more lives or a more quick albeit brutal but actually overall less costly and shorter war. Once this is over, there will really be no need for masks, gloves, SiP or any of this. Masks are never going to look 'normal" out in the regular, non medical world, nor should they. But for a very short time, sure, whatever.
I have mentioned this before, I'm an at risk person. My parents are too. So are my in-laws. I can see the need for a short term drastic set of restrictions to a point. But I do think that we need to be careful what we blindly ask for with all of this. Having apps to tell on our neighbors might be ok short term, but must be accompanied by strong limits on what a governing body can and can't do and have a time limit as well. Otherwise we do run the risk of there becoming a police state type of result none of us want. Again, the push is for this to be a very short term, get this over with mentality. Not a "new norm" lets get used to this sort of thing.
Just my 2 cents.
