64Analytics currently has our transfer class ranked 3rd in the country. 5 of our 8 commits are ranked in their top 250 and none of the guys transferring out are ranked in the top 250.

Skenes is a different case IMHO. He lost his senior year of HS to COVID, iirc. And he didn't pitch much until his junior year of HS. Then was a 2-way player at Air Force. And I think the biggest reason he ended up at Air Force was because he lost his senior year.

But you don't usually see proven, top level players at P4 programs transfer unless you're talking about Big10 programs not named USC, UCLA, or Oregon. Kids want to play in the SEC or ACC.

So you go juco or guy who wasn't getting PT at a big program or the guy who has done really well at a mid-major.

Laughable take. ABS might take away a few borderline strikes, but the bigger question is why people assume Greg Maddux would be the only player transported from the 1990s while everyone else gets the benefit of modern baseball.

Can you imagine Greg Maddux with today's analytics, pitch design, biomechanics, strength training, high-speed cameras, and data on every hitter he faces? We're talking about arguably the smartest and most precise pitcher in baseball history.

Nope, he might be even better these days. You're thinking of Glavine, who lived about 6" off the plate away.

Maddux's game wasn't stretching the zone, it was wrecking timing and missing the center of the barrel. Hitters would get downright despondent feeling like they should be crushing him but always just missing.

I think that's probably the case. Kid can play but Pack is a star and played over him. Plus, they're probably higher on portal guys or maybe even a HS signee or two. With the roster limits it's not at all uncommon for these guys transferring from P4 programs to be leaving because they're told they won't have a spot going forward.

In the portal with a "Do Not Contact" tag so it'sa good thing he reached out to us… (and if there was any tampering involved, it was while Cain was with the sips and he only contacted us after that pre-existing relationship)

SIAP (or if I'm in the wrong thread)…given the transfers so far, is there a best guess on next year's lineup, especially for the pitching staff? Obviously getting Savoie is big, but it feels like the offense is poised to take a step or 2 back and the pitching will be improved. No?
