25 Players in 25 Days: #25 Lamont Rogers

Let's start the countdown to football season! This year, it's 25 Players in 25 Days, and coming in at #25 is redshirt freshman offensive lineman Lamont Rogers. The 6-foot-6, 337-pound tackle is expected to have a role providing depth in the trenches.

Key notes from Liucci’s thoughts on Rogers

  • If you are doing 25 players, there is room for projection. Otherwise, we would do the 22 starters plus three. It should be a mix of what you know, what you think you know, and what limb you want to go out on.

  • I don't think that Lamont Rogers is going out on a limb. You are talking about a 4-5 star player, a national top offensive line prospect in the nation. This was an enormous get for A&M, and he got himself into much better shape under Tommy Moffitt. Among players who helped their stock for the 2026 season in the spring, he was on a very short list.

  • I talked about Terry Bussey and the spring he had. In terms of returnees, there weren't many that helped their stock more than Rogers. He has a battle on his hands. You have Wilkin Formby and Tyree Adams. Rogers may be tackle No. 3 and could be competing for the tackle No. 2 spot. He will get playing time in November regardless on if he has a good fall. You will have to put him out there to see how he handles it all.

  • His ceiling is through the roof. The only question is his timetable. He’s so big and agile for a guy his size, with light feet and long arms. If he puts it all together, he's a high-round potential guy. This a prime example of who you kept in the portal: him, Blake Ivy and Robert Bourdon. He was heavily pursued. A lot of people are aware of Rogers, none more than Mike Elko. This is a guy that we are a year away from him really making a statement, which I think is high-level SEC lineman play. That is what I love about what Mike Elko and Adam Cushing did in the portal. There is a lot of the young O-line talent, but you don't force it until they are ready. So you go get two tackles in the portal, the question is how ready us Rogers when the season rolls around.

This is a player I have had really high hopes for. I will be surprised if he is not pushing to start at the end of camp.

If he doesn't take a tackle spot, I hope they give him a shot inside. Just get the best 5 on the field. Would love to see Rogers and Ivey win jobs.
