He's a good get. His dad also pitched for Lamar and was drafted in the late 90s. I really didn't expect him to be available.

Not elite stuff on the radar but a lot of pitchability. I expect we'll try to limit his repertoire a little as he was allegedly throwing 6 or 7 different pitches this year. Refine 3 or so and he should be a nice middle relief candidate I'd think.

He is around 250-350 overall right now so roughly a 10th round pick if he goes. That's ~$200k but if he goes into the 11th round he gets a lot less

Minick is interesting. Really good sophomore year and fell short of huge preseason expectations. Was a corner infielder for most of his career that transitioned to CF this year. It sounds like he battled injuries all year and was eventually shut down in late April (not sure what happened, I saw several reports of missing games/playing through injuries). Below is a preseason clip of the UCONN coach saying "forget Big East player of the year, could be NCAA player of the year." It seems like another example of our coaching staff buying low on a guy with a very high ceiling.

He had shoulder and elbow injuries to deal with last season.

Make sure y'all spell Minick correctly. There is also a similar aged Tyler Minnick that played for Middle Tennessee and Georgia Tech.

Really like what the coaching staff has done in the portal in all respects. Now let's see how the Draft plays out and who we can get to campus/convince to stay here, and then we can start talking potential lineups and rotations. Right now, I'm optimistic about next year's squad.

I wonder if some of these commitments are more about giving kids draft leverage? We have to be about done, right? There's going to be some real uncomfortable roster conversations with some kids as it is, and even more if we keep taking.

Someone did the math a couple of weeks ago on the premium thread. Thought we had about 44/45 guys projected on the roster. We've added a few since then. Not sure how this is all going to work because I thought rosters had to be set by the start of the fall semester.

NM. Roster has to be set by Dec 1. Looks like it will be very competitive in fall ball this year.

We're at 43 without considering and commits signing in the draft or any Freshcorn/Moss type guys not signing and coming back.
