If we were competitive and showing signs of *almost* being there, you might have a point.
You run the risk of losing the fanbase if you keep this guy around. What's more important to the AD, the paying customers or a perceived reputation by a bunch of coaches who are mercenaries?

Anyone know how he's recruiting for 2026 and 2027? I don't and not quite sure where to gather that intel (other than BA pay site... and I don't pay as not that important ).

On X, did see many SEC teams in top 10 and tu leading the charge (think they are #1 in projected recruits), but we weren't listed.

If he's recruiting well (A&M has to be top 10 and in starting pitchers), then he may get a leash...if he's way off on refilling the cupboards with talent after this year's exodus, then he won't survive IMO. It's not a great scenario at the current juncture.

Everyone understands this isn't a typical first year coach

Earley never would've gotten this job under normal hiring circumstances and was a gamble to keep the roster together

If he can't make a regional with this roster we don't need to see more and if we keep him for three years we'll be a cellar dweller program

Hit the reset button and start the rebuild with the best coach you can get

While circumstance do change, Heefner has had DBU at a high level for 15+ seasons now. Many what would be considered quality jobs have come open during this time, his name was mentioned as a possible coach to fill these openings and yet he is still at Dallas Baptist. The same with Virginia's O'Conner, even more so since he is better known nationally.

Absolutely not, don't pay him a dime. Make him earn it. We made the mistake of letting the players pick who they wanted to be their coach. This seldom works because you don't hire a friend to be your coach. You must have a coach that makes every player be accountable for their play and if he's gotta get tough, he's gotta get tough. It's going rough now, but let's see if He'll grow a pair of balls and be a real coach.

This was never a rebuild. Even with the injuries, this is an all time bad team. No harm in starting over now.

How can any one coach at this level be this bad? Seems almost impossible

I've debated with myself as to post my opinion about the HC. While he may be a successful coach somewhere else in the future, I don't believe he can or will be here, with this team. His relationship with this team is based on his tenure as an assistant coach, who did not have responsibility to hold players accountable. He has been their friend and confident and "pal".
My analogy in the business world would be a member of a crew who has been buddies with all the crew members is suddenly made supervisor of the crew and now has the ultimate responsibility for holding everyone accountable. Hard to make that transition successfully without losing credibility or team members.
He should be able to learn from this situation and become successful at his next stop.

Our Athletic Department is hands down the worst entity in the wide world of sports at contract negotiations. Between the boosters and those responsible in the AD it literally does not get worse in any sport anywhere.

Who gives a ***** We hired him to keep this "dream team" together and look what it got us. Just start over like we should have this year

At this point this team looks worse than the '06 & '00 teams and will probably battle the '83 team to get past 4 conference wins. The '60 team was 1-11 in conference & 5-17-1.

Going from pre-season #1 to that level of ineptitude is likely unprecedented and a free pass to "fail fast".

Fire Longley, demote Earley to hitting coach and let rest off staff mop up the rest of the season. Trev has rest of season to hire a replacement.

It won't be Trev's decision. If the power brokers that fund the AD want him gone, he'll be gone. The real question is how serious THEY are about baseball.

Correct…I have some fairly deep connections to the DBU program and to a person have been told that Heefner will never leave DBU. His faith is the #1 thing in his life and he can live it out on a daily basis at DBU without worrying about university or athletic department administrators meddling.
