There is a balance with swinging or not swinging on 1st pitch. Last year our balance was poor imo. We basically never swung on 1st pitch and let meatballs start us down 0-1. This year we have no situational awareness and discipline which means we swing at 1st pitch too often. Pendulum needs to swing back the other way some.

I think we are swinging at the first pitch much more than last year. We seem less disciplined IMO.

Not true. When this was brought constantly last season I went through box scores and we swung at the first strike of the AB around a quarter of the time.

Wasn't playing with a full deck when I made that statement. But I think anyone can see our offense is bad and we are behind counts quickly.
