Signing Day has passed and we haven't started spring football...No clue why you'd think the football board would be exciting right now.

Especially because we are on the brink of greatness.

This board should be going nuts right now.

I wonder why? Hmmm. Mark Welsh is secretly trying to maintain DEI. Half hearted leadership focusing on the wrong things. The free market decides failure. It should fail. I wished my two boys didn't even go to A&M. There are better things to focus on.

Been on the brink for almost 100 years

It used to be worth paying attention to recruiting so you knew what the team was going to look like for the next (few) year(s). Now, we're smack dab in the middle of the free agency period, so there is no point in paying much attention. Once the second portal window closes, you can start getting a rough idea of what the team will look like for the coming year, but even then nothing is set in stone. It's hard to try to get interested in transfers when plenty of them transfer out again within a few weeks of getting here. The spring game means nothing with the second portal window right after, so it is hard to get excited for that.

Basically, it is hard to get excited about football until you have an idea of who's on the team, and we won't know that for a while yet. It kind of sucks the energy out of the early offseason.

I'll know we're in peak off season when there are at least five threads on bevels!

Like after the last episode of Game of Thrones.

back in my day texags was way better in the offseason. Got too much traffic after johnny. Normies started showing up demanding moderation. Drove the good posters off. Now its just a bunch of mean spirited stereotypes.

This site has become nothing more than a place for people destined for misery to come and sulk and get pats on the back from other miserable people. If some of yall hate A&M football and other sports so much, then why not just stop following? Have yall thought of that?

With roster turnover where it's at year over year there's little to no hope to glean for "next year" from an 8-4 season like there was in the past.
Honestly not a bad thing that people are waking up to what seems like a destiny of perpetual mediocrity in my opinion.

It's put up or shut up every year for me. But making every player a hired gun who can leave at any point and be playing against you the next year with no repercussions has basically ruined the sport for me, whether we win or lose. I think a lot of other people feel the same way and, like me, will continue to watch the games for some cheap entertainment but don't really care what happens. I don't think this is a one-off on this board. I think enthusiasm for college football generally is declining, even among a lot of fan bases whose teams are winning.

I would be shocked if premium membership isn't at an all time low with our athletic department and the general distrust of the sunshine pumping content they put out year after year.

There really hasn't been much to be excited about the program. I think a lot of fans are just burnt out from all of the disappointment. It's been over 25 years since the team has even made it to a conference championship. I bet some are losing interest.

I've been watching Aggie football for 35+ years, and no program does less with more than this one.

There a lot of fairweather fans out there, granted, but I just want to see more substance than style from this program for a change and a shred of consistency. Way too much hype and not enough results has plenty folks feeling apathetic.

Since joining the big 12 we have averaged around one good season every decade. We already used that season up in 2020 so the earliest to get excited would be 2030. Until then it's the Fighting Texas 8&4 Aggies!

I got soured with losses to South Carolina and Auburn. I completely lost interest right after we got stuffed on 4 and 3 at the goal line on the opening drive of the ut game. Disappointment is a tradition, so I'm used to it, and I've always bounced back with hopeful optimism.

Last year hit different though. It ruined the rest of the college football season for me. I didn't watch another snap of any game the rest of the season. This is the first time I've been in the zoo since.

I know that's extreme, but that was my experience.

It's the same dog and pony show every year. Why do we think it should be different?

We still have the same inept decision makers in charge. We still have the same atmosphere of mediocrity and not caring whether we win or lose, but only caring about the experience on game day (the majority of Aggies).

At this point, it's almost fans thinking "meh". Football, basketball, baseball. All horrific disappointments relative to pre-season expectations.

Who TF cares anymore? I'll record the game. If they lose, delete. If they win, passively watch it. Not been to a game since 2016. Not going to waste my $$.

the general issue going into the 2025 season...is the lack of great or elite players

the fans know you need great players to have a great team

it looks like the Ags will have a team of good, solid players

and we know what W-L record that equals

National Signing Day just isn't the big media event it used to be. It's the same on other sites that used to hang on recruiting news during the off season.

But also we, the Zoo, prolly chased a lot of serious football fans off to Premium.

College football has unplugged from its fans, so it's only natural we should unplug from it, too.
