Well, as a former player at NAIA DBU in the mid to late 80's, we did well against SWC and other D1 schools. However, Heefner has taken the program to levels we never experienced. By all accounts, he is a great coach and leader of men.AggieBB said:He didn't build the DBU program. The way he built that DBU program won't work at a major program.
I hope everyone sees what you just pointed out.daryl gersch said:
I want a baseball coach that is qualified and hungry. We all know that Heefner can coach baseball. Baseball is baseball, it boils down to being prepared for or against the team we are playing against. I feel that Heefner and his staff will work hard to win. That's what winning is all about.

The proof is in the data. Shame people can't see it, would be a home run hire.jriv09 said:
Cracks me up the responses on here. "We need to hire a guy from the SEC or ACC" Heff would be a home run hire. As a former player I want someone who can bring in guys that can play, but are also willing to work their a$$ off to get where we want to go. His track record speaks for itself. Not to mention he relates to the younger generation of players. He will kill it at A&M. Hire him now, in my opinion.

Edit: Baseball is very different than any other sport, family matters. You have to win the player over but have to win the parents over more. Parents invest their time and money all year long in baseball. If you aren't honest with the parents you lose the kid.

I cannot predict the future if he is the hire, but his teams will be prepared, will play hard, AND he will be a man of his word.

No doubts he is a great coach. My question would be if he can recruit at an SEC level and against the dirty competition.
I'm more interested in how well he develops players more than how he recruits. He sends lots if kids to the Bigs. See Jimbo on recruiting. But still a fair question, but we can't assume he can't. Not a big enough risk in my mind to not give him a shot.rev27 said:

Real question - If he is such a good coach why hasn't he gotten out of DBU for 17 years. Is their Alumni fund paying him a fat stacks because DBU isn't exactly the biggest stage in the NCAA or the best spring board to Omaha.
