Tennesse wasn't coming off a loss in the CWS finals when their coach was stolen by Vanderbilt before the last out of the game was recorded when they hired Tony V.

We need a big time, look-the-****-out hire. We need a guy who will drag his nuts across the texas coach's face, keep the band together, and kick NIL funding into overdrive.

Heefner is a great guy and a great coach. He is not the right hire for us at this point in time.

I get it, you think he's a great hire. Yes, he's a great coach. But there are great coaches in HS and travel ball teams. Why don't we hire one of those guys?

DBU and CUSA is just a little different than the SEC. Forgive me for not thinking that Heefner is not the right guy at this moment in time for A&M. Not after what just happened with texas. Not with having Aggie MLB draft talent sitting in the portal.

We need to capitalize on the momentum texas gave us and use it to fund raise like never before, I don't think Heefner can capitalize on that like an O'Connor or Mingione, etc...

Serious question. At a program like DBU, would Heefner even know how the portal and NIL work? It seems doubtful they would have much in the way of NIL funding and portal experience would mostly be outgoing rather than incoming. Ability to navigate those waters is a big, big deal.

Yes Of course he would, he has a budget there just like he would here….BBU has some dollars hence some of the players they get…,a fraction of what he'll have here.
I love this hire if we can get him and the fact he's turned downed the horns in the past makes it even better.

Keep in mind that the way these private schools have thrived (see Vandy) is by being able to give big dollar amount scholarships based on their exorbitant cost of attendance. A half baseball scholarship at A&M for example might be 15-20k. Same baseball scholly at DBU might be 40k If their cost of attendance is much higher. That's at least the way I understand it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Btw, NIL has started to destroy that advantage. And what has happened to Vandy?

Who knows? - EXACTLY. That is the opposition. Schlobby showed that this program can be dominant. We have long felt it, but now we have seen it.

Who knows if he could be a bad ass here? Noone. And that brings risk - some are more ok with that than others.

He's done consistently well. Seems to have respect of baseball folks. Good staff. Etc. But a lot of "who knows" with any mid-major.

This! I'll admit, while I go to all the the baseball games, I don't claim to be in the know on college coaches. Very easy to see accomplishments, resume, etc., and post your various opinions on coaches. I will say, if the baseball "world" loves this guy, GO GET HIM!

I would have no issue with Heefner coaching here. I do not believe he will leave DBU and that has little to do with baseball. What's important to him he can do at DBU and not at a public university.

Idk if it's been said, but DBU has made a Regional every year since 2014 including 2008, 2011, and 2012. Made a super regional in 2011 and 2021.

That's a hell of a post season record for a small university with very limited resources.

He has produced 73 players to the MLB since being with DBU.

I can see a lot of players who will want to play under him.
