In my completely unprofessional and mostly uninformed opinion I would have had Shewmake attempt to steal 2nd base and then have Blaum attempt to bunt him to third. We absolutely should embrace small ball. We generally have trouble scoring runs. However our pitching is lights out.

I know the stats say this approach has a high potential of leaving runs on the table but our team stats and eyeball test says we are not the general statistical case.

Just my thoughts. I'll go back to lurking like I always do.

We don't have much team speed, but we do need to send runners a little more often to get runners in scoring position if we aren't going to bunt them over. Obviously runs will be at a premium for this team moving forward into the NCAA's as the pitching will continue to get tougher and tougher, so we likely need to generate some runs with small ball occasionally.

He was out for almost 2 months injured. I don't know that he even has enough at bats for me to say he misses "a lot"
