Amazing. If we fired coaches every time TexAgs called for it we'd need a new football, basketball, and baseball coach every year.

The other RC would still be coaching if some of you had your way
Not that it wasn't time for a change but we haven't exactly improved our results on the gridiron with the three coaches since Slocum.

We haven't got any worse either which is the reason so many use for not wanting to make a change

Agreed! If we truly aspire to be an elite program in every sport (if not, why not?), then we must be ruthless in our expectations and demands for excellence from our coaches (results on the field of play). In the end, that's all that matters!

All the Texags expectations combined have gotten us absurdly expensive, extended contracts to Kennedy and Sumlin. I'm sure a few more internet demands will turn things around.

As I've said numerous times, if you believe RC has had sufficient opportunity to get the program to the point you believe it should I'll listen to that argument. It is all the other BS that gets flung around here hoping it will stick. While things seem status quo with football that does not mean they can't get much worse for baseball; see Georgia and Tennessee who have hired the hot coach and are they not only making the NCAAs on a regular basis, they're not even making it to Hoover.

For every UT and UGA you want to name I can name a TCU and Texas Tech. The high school talent in those states isn't what it is in ours either. I absolutely think RC has taken us as far as he's going to. I think he's a fantastic instructional coach, much like Mike Sherman was, however, also like Sherman, his in game management is flat out awful as is his ability to instill a killer instinct into his team. We saw that again last night.

Let me ask you this, were you even the slightest bit surprised by what went down last night?

You could make that claim about a lot of different scenarios, but none would be accurate. Pretty sure the "Powers that be" weren't even aware of the existence of TexAgs until fairly recently. Nor are those same expectations unique to TexAgs anyway.

I'm not sure what this website has to do with coach contracts. A&M is however sheerly incompetence at contracts though. We heavily reward coaches based off of one really good year (Sumlin 2012, Kennedy 2016) or continued just good enough (Childress). It creates a very comfortable environment for them to work in where they aren't really afraid of ever losing their jobs. As much as I don't like Childress getting the last extension he got, it's not even approaching the ridiculously bad business we displayed with Sumlin's contract, specifically the 30 day buyout. Kennedy getting a new deal was really bad but the protection he's built himself with his friendship with Torn points to a huge problem we have in our culture.
