Did you just realize that? It's a matter of time, whether we're in purgatory or not.
Ah, but if you find yourself in purgatory you're certain of heaven. In other words, I'm fairly certain PabloSerna was just making a theological joke,

reissue: theologically, i think the best you can hope for is that a supreme being wouldn't involve himself in something as petty as sports outcomes...otherwise the ags have really done something to piss him off.

You were the one who opted to bring a theological bent to the discussion, don't be surprised if others might play with it a bit.

Reading this thread again from the start is depressing.

But Rocco is spot on about the in state teams in particular playing balls to the wall with the " we're not going to get beat by the Aggies mentality"

Time for us to play with that laser focus. Question is will it ever happen under Childress. Even if it does it's total bs it takes this long to realize and get done.

It's not even something the other coach really has to harp on although I'm sure they do. Most everyone who grew up in TX, which is most of the college baseball players in TX, developed feelings one way or the other on Aggies. We move the needle for most everyone, one way or the other. Look at the effort Sam Houston gave when they came to our park this season. Players are motivated playing against us, they grew up either not liking us so they're motivated by that or they're motivated by liking us yet not being good enough to play for us.

and on the flip side is our guys playing fearful of losing to in-state competition of perceived lesser talent.

Not that I don't think there is some validity to your point but Sam tends to have the same mentality against all the named Texas baseball schools. They almost always battle them hard and often come away with a W. IMO one way to address this is to try to schedule regular season games against these clubs instead of worrying how we might be helping their RPI or whatever other inane reasons that prevent putting close quality opponents on the schedule.. The BDF/SEC themed College Classic down at Minute Maid next season will put TCU, tech and Baylor on the schedule.

Do we play all 3 of those teams?

The field will be three SEC teams (A&M, LSU, Ole Miss) and three BDF teams (Baylor, TCU, tech) so unless they match teams from the same conference we will face the three BDF teams.

Ok... yeah, I think it will be SEC vs. BDF games only

And that's gonna be a great event

I think it's a damned shame that they are kicking UH and Rice out.

Considering most kids in TX grow up with feelings one way or the other about us, as I said, I think Sam probably gets up a little more for us than they do the others, especially considering the year we were having, our ranking, being in the SEC, and our proximity to them.

I think playing TCU or TT or BU might help. It would at least familiarize us with them if we met in the post season. However, I don't think you can replicate a Super Regional series with a Tuesday night regular season game. We should have been somewhat familiar with TCU anyway, after facing them in 2015, even with their roster turnover.
