I've told all my friends and associates that they OWE it to themselves to attend an Aggie Baseball Game and sit in the RENAMED "student section". Easily the best sporting event experience I have had the pleasure of enjoying. Lot's of legendary stuff coming out of there and it seems there are new legends born all the time! Now, they will be relegated to the berm, The $Bill Berm.

I have already emailed them, as well as the 5 others who have season tickets too. If they actually attempt to screw over the people that sit in GA over a "heavy student draw" then they will reap the consequences. We love Aggie baseball, and have supported the team all the way back from when i was in middle school in '96, but i will let my friends and fellow Ags be pushed around like that.

Students have never been able to fill that area up consistently. If the students want to sit there, then get in the line early. "but we have clss!". "but i have tutoring". Nobody cares, and we have all done it. It's not like these are new concepts that the students just now are dealing with.

I was polite, and to the point with my email and call. Bottom line: Support will be cut if policies are not changed immediately. Screw over loyal fans at the last minute, and you screw yourself. If they didn't anticipate this kind of reaction, then somebody was not doing their job.

And Nelda is a saint. If anyone gives her a hard time, i can guarantee you will have issues yourself.

this has officially ruined my week. gonna try and get student guest tickets converted for my parents (i'll just use my old ID if asked) and hope that the TMF and Ass whipe $Bill get this crap fixed

I just called the ticket hotline. Long story short, they have no permanent plans past opening weekend. This weekend, 201-204 is for the students, who can also bring a guest. After that, they will "reevaluate." I encourage you to call and tell them that your donation is going elsewhere if they do not immediately address the situation.

Couldn't agree more. I go to games as much for this environment and the people as I do for the baseball. Olsen is my favorite place in the world, no exaggeration; I've never had a place where I've felt more at home and I hope that doesn't get destroyed.

I didn't go to A&M and lived quite a ways from College Station until a few years ago. Having said that, my wife and I attended a game a couple years ago with family that went to A&M and were big baseball fans. We sat in the GA section with the students and former students and had a blast! I now have season tickets but I feel that it's a mistake to make it a student only section because had it have been that way a couple years ago, we would have missed out on what kept us coming back. It truly was a great experience and one that should not end!

I posted this on my facebook. Maybe we can get this changed through mass emails/calls.

Wow, I just came across this.

I'll do my part and send an email. Sitting in 203 gave me some of my favorite memories, and I know former students AND current students, along with the general public mixed in, contributed to those memories.

They will see it and go in to edit the image. I'd be shocked if it hasn't been edited by tomorrow morning.

they have already stated that they are adding a $2 premium to the opening weekend ticket prices. it would be nice if they state opening weekend only for the student section. thats all it would have taken to not receive a bunch of phone calls and emails.

It's nothing new - they always have spring sport passes. Just an excuse to get the extra $$$ for a reserved seat.

The athletic department just killed the GA section and spirit that we are known for nationally.

You are putting us in the berm. People who have attended hundreds of baseball games, bought concessions at damned near all of them (and are also TMF donors)... you are putting us in the berm, when you know student attendance NEVER comes CLOSE to filling those sections.

no, AggieTickets, YOU ARE COMPLETELY DISCREDITING AND DISHONORING EVERYTHING THAT OLSEN MAGIC STANDS FOR. and baseball itself for that matter. Baseball and Olsen Field is the ULTIMATE family environment. My best all time memory at Olsen is from sophomore year, catching a foul ball above the first base dugout in section 205 and giving it to a 4 year old attending his first ever baseball game. The look in his eyes and the interaction/conversation with his parents (former students) made it an afternoon I'll never forget and all of that was possible because of the general admission seating that allows students, families, regulars, and visitors to all intermingle and become the heart of Olsen. You've effectively destroyed that. Congrats

I'll just stay home this weekend. I'm not going to pay a premium to sit in the wet grass of an un-finished stadium.

It's still not going to change the number of people that get turned away. If they get there late, they get there late. The non-students still have to get there early like every one else if they want a spot and they have real lives, making sacrifices that don't involve xbox360 (your parents aren't here, you know you're not studying).
