There are occasions, such as tech football last year or baylor tennis, when they can actually be proud of their own accompishments; but that 15 minutes of fame soon fades and they are back to their same old baylor and tech leaching off of A&M and Texas.

They hate us because we walk around like we are on the same level as Texas/Oklahoma when in reality we are closer to the level of Tech/Baylor.

I think other people outside of A&M (esp the younger folk) truly lose sight of the fact that A&M is unique in the sense of its background.

A&M was a military academy. Because of that its heritage and traditions will be very different than your typical university. People make fun of it because it is very different but it came from a different time. Whether people from outside of A&M understand why we do the things we do really doesn't matter to most of us because we know that A&M is pretty special.

TT and BU hate us because they feel like they should be better than us (whether it is academics or athletics) but they aren't nor will they ever be. Despite how much we underachieve and they overachieve, they will never be better than us as an institution. Therefore they hate us. They don't hate tu as much because they understand they cannot be tu, so they accept it.

-Chick Ball we have a National Title recently
-Baseball & Softball have made Omaha recently
-men's & women's tennis win the Big XII almost every year (plus a National Title for the men)
Win the 4X400 Champ almost every year


I'd trade it all for football (except men's bball), but we hold our own in everything but football.

BH, this extends beyond just athletics.

When you consider overall athletics and academics prestige, A&M is easily second in the big 12.

I hate to agree with BaylorHistory...but he is right. Baylor holds its own in everything but football.

Now tech is entirely different story...they suck in everything.

I think he was talking about athletics because he had it as UT/OU and Baylor is way ahead of OU in all of the rankings.

A&M hates Texas alot. We also hate Tech alot. But I really think we know where to draw the line.

Baylor hates A&M more than anything. the unbelievable hatred bears show toward us is irrational, unprecedented, and unhealthy. It goes FAR beyond sports. Baylor straight up despises us in every way. It is ****ing ridiculous. My question for you is: Why? I can understand yall's hatred for us, but I don't understand why yall have to take it so far.

My generation grew up with tons of t-shirt aggies fans (90's, no one liked UT back then) and having loyalty to Baylor football during that time was nearly impossible. I think it was all the **** that Baylor fans took during that time. Most old bears hate UT more than A&M.

I'd rather be hated (TAMU) than mocked (Tech) or ridiculed (Baylor)

Other fans' hatred of us has little to do with athletics. People will always look to criticize their rivals, and they're particularly drawn to criticize things that couldn't be said about their own school as well. Many of the unique things (like Yell Pracice, Yell Leaders, The Corps, Reveille, Bonfire, Elephant Walk, etc.) that we cherish become easy targets for our rivals, because they are so unique to A&M.

We love these traditions, we love our school probably at an inordinant level, and to the casual observer, it is quite strange. Therein lies the interesting relationship A&M has with it's rivals. Most schools are made fun of for things that they themselves also dislike about their schools. In A&M's case, we're often made fun of for the things we love the most about our school. Hence we keep doing those things, sometimes to the point of being borderline abnoxious, and it just ruffles their feathers even more.

baylor and tech "hate" us more than they "hate" texas because they feel like they can beat us.

They have both conceded that texas is going to be the #1 university in the big sports, so they do not even bother to challenge them.

but when it comes to A&M, they look at us as an easier school to beat out, so they can become #2 in the state. they feel as though their efforts in hating us might actually get them somewhere whereas they can hate texas all they want but texas will likely beat them anyway.

I visit my sister and friends at tech a lot, was there for the beat down in football this year. They like to think their rival is UT, but they absolutely despise a&m and everything about it to the point of violence. Can't imagine anyone surpassing that level.

But yeah I agree that most Aggie hatred doesn't have to do with athletics, but traditions and stuff like that. I've heard people talk about it in such an angry way though, that I don't take it seriously. Getting that pissed off because we do yells instead of cheers is just stupid. Quit crying.

Alot of it has to do with jealousy too. We've got very passionate and unified fans. Other schools wish they have what we have.

I get pissed with aggies a lot, but then I remember that most of the them are Texans who vote the same way I do and like to hunt like I do.

Oh and I bet a lot of you are obsessed with Shiner (Bock, Light, or Hefe) like I am.

I've always thought that Baylor and A&M, on a personal level, have a lot more in common than either is really comfortable with. Religiously, ideologically, politically, whatever, I would be willing to bet that Baylor and A&M are a lot closer to each other than A&M and UT or Baylor and UT.

Now that doesn't mean each side doesn't have their fringe, but as far as you can identify a median ground for each fan/alumni/student base, the two would be largely similar.

You should change your name from BaylorHistory to something else, because you really aren't up to date with Baylor History at all saying that you are on the same level as Texas and OU in hoops. Up until a couple of years ago, you hadn't made the NCAA tourney in over 20 years. Texas has made it every year for a long while and has a Final 4 appearance. OU is fresh off of an Elite 8 appearance. These are considered "down" years for those 2 programs, in case you hadn't noticed.

We love our school, that's why they hate us. Even when we're not very good, we still think we can pull it off...that's why they hate us.

We don't turn our back on each other when things look bleak, that's why they hate us.

That's why I said UT/OU were better than Baylor still...

To be fair, he seems fuzzier on Texas and OU history than anything else. I'm sure he is more than aware of Baylor's ineptitude on the court until very recently.

According to the Tech people I know, they hate Aggies because *WE* think we're on the same level as Texas/Oklahoma while *THEY* think we're closer to the level of Tech/Baylor. So to them, we're merely arrogant, with nothing to back it up.

Its because we have male cheerleaders and it's easier to hate a guy than a girl.

Seems like more times than not, when I tell a younger Bear or Red Raider that I am a student at Texas A&M, they give me **** about it. If I tell a Longhorn, usually no matter the age, they don't. Not sure why, but I really don't think that in person, many Ags would make fun of a person for going to Tech or Baylor, academically. Obviously, occasional ribbing on athletics is fine.
