Welcome to Aggieland.
There’s a new linebacker headed to Aggieland this offseason as former Tulsa standout Ray Coney has announced his commitment to Texas A&M out of the transfer portal.
The Fairfield, Ohio, native was a standout at East Tennessee State for two years, earning Freshman All-American honors from Phil Steele before making the move to the Golden Hurricane.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder is Mike Elko’s second addition in this January window.
Coney’s tackle numbers during his first season as a full-time starter were impressive, as his game clearly translated to the next step up on the college football ladder. In 2025, Coney tallied 128 take-downs. He also recorded a pair of sacks and a forced fumble. He holds a career tackle total of 225 if you combine his numbers from ETSU and Tulsa.
He’ll arrive at A&M with plenty of snaps under his belt and one year of eligibility remaining.
Stay here, as we’ll have continued portal coverage after the Aggies add a productive veteran presence on defense.
