Anyone had the James E. Pepper Decanter? Had it recommended to me more than once, but only tried it this weekend at a tasting. Barrel Proof, but only 105, lots of fruit flavors to it.

I think it's a great pickup. The proof is nice and it has some great bright fruit notes. It's approachable for a new drinker but not too weak for a proof hound. I did a blind with a group where we put it up against OWA, Bakers 7, and some other 107 proof bottles and it was consistently top 2 for everyone in the group. And it's a beautiful bottle and a good price.

I won't necessarily disagree with that, though i don't drink nearly enough to have an informed opinion. I will argue that article saying Stagg has declined while using ECBP as an example seems really off base, considering ECBP is trending younger with each release.

Took me a bit to come around and perhaps for the bottle to open, but my Stagg 23A tastes great now. Still not as good as the Spec's pick I have from several years ago though when those started rolling out.
