Didn't know this thread existed on Texags. Are we allowed to discuss bourbon hunting here as well? I'm in the Houston area and have been looking for any hunting group that doesn't use facebook and so far I've been SOL. It's tough to find what you want when you're having to hit all the liquor stores by your lonesome.
Second this. I started hunting regularly about 4 years ago. Since then, I've watched the FB groups grow nationally from 15 k to 44 k. I've seen local groups go from 300 to 6000. Stores know about the groups and it makes things even worse.AlaskanAg99 said:ummyeaaaa said:

Good luck. There are thousands of people doing the same thing you are. And if it gets posted to FB it's gone within minutes. Hard to compete.

I just go to my regular mom and pop shop and hope they get me something nice a couple times a year. I pop into total wine and specs to get things that aren't as hard to find. Good Luck.
Speaking of Old Forester, I just opened an OF 1870 and really liked it - then looked for online reviews, and discovered I am apparently the only person on the planet that likes it. More for me, I guess.dmart90 said:
If you are in Austin and looking for Old Forester 1910, the Lakeline Total Wine has three cases of it (minus the bottles i just grabbed). Some might now be some the shelf. There was none when I asked.
I also picked up a bottle of 1792 bottled in bond (Total Wine Single Barrel Select). It was the last one of the shelf, but like the 1910 there might be more? And a bottle of Oregon Spirit. I'll post notes when I crack them open.
As a bourbon and rye guy who eventually wanders into rum and loves craft beer, will this be worth my $182.99 in DFW? I have the connection to where its being sold....and I have no idea what I would be buying...tx4guns said:
FYI my L'Encantada Armagnac pick for HBS just arrived at NASA Liquors. It's kinda pricey, but really good.
