Need some advice. My brother is getting into bourbon and his birthday is this weekend. Im looking for something in the $50-$70 range that would be available off the shelf at Specs CS. Ive looked through the last pages and see OF 1920 mentioned. Obviously not looking for anything earth shattering, just something nice at the price point that he would enjoy. Thanks!

Man, I like that widow jane more every time I drink it. EHT single is also a great suggestion. I find those Barrell bourbons to be hit or miss but they can be really good.

Another option would be the Goody Goody Woodford Reserve Double Oaked store pick. It's about $55 I believe and it's pretty good.

I've had it a few times. IMO, it's good for what it is which is $35 bourbon. Unfortunately the only place you'll find it unless you stumble into a store on shipment date is secondary at 4x retail. It's good, but not $140 worth of good.

Agree. Great bourbon at $35-$40, used to keep a bottle on hand at all times. I would probably even pay up to $55 range for it if I could find it for that. At secondary market prices it's an absurd purchase that you will almost certainly regret.

If anyone happens to be in, or is traveling to Memphis tomorrow, Gaslight Liquor Shoppe is apparently getting BTAC allocation tomorrow (employee told me). Snow in the area could slow interested parties potentially. If you manage to get your hands on some, I charge a bottle royalty fee if you can get more than 1, or at a minimum, a sample

I've got family in Memphis so I stop by Gaslight whenever I'm there. Was there a few weeks ago. They have a list they use for allocated bottles and to my knowledge won't be putting anything out on shelves. But they have a good everyday selection - I've grabbed Blanton's on the shelf for $60, and they always have ER stacked several boxes high.

Thanks to Charlie Brown's discussion above, I researched the Fitzgerald line and hit my local mom-and-pop store. Was hoping they had some Old Fitz, no joy there but ended up picking up some Larceny because I like the wheaters. It's a really nice wheated bourbon at its price point in my opinion.

Typically hard to find. Specs in Houston had some in a couple weeks ago. Also found RHF around the same time in Houston.

My gosh, MWND was all over the shelves in CA last week. Six deep on the shelves. I brought back one, but didn't have room for a ton of it because of other stuff I found. Amazing the differences / preferences between states.
