I think somebody put it perfectly here. Garrison Bros is like drinking the liquid out of a can of corn.

I don't care for their standard release that much, but the Cowboy is enjoyable. Different for sure. My bottle didn't last long.

I don't remember anyone discussing TX Bourbon much. Anyone pick up a bottle when it was released and any opinions on it?

Raise your budget by $50, and buy the Stagg. Leave the rest.

You're welcome.

Also, I'm guessing the case of Weller 12 is $60/ per, which is a ripoff. If it's $60 for the case, that's a steal, and you should buy that too, and sell them at retail to your friend on Texags for a nice little profit.

Did you buy the white label and white wax from the distillery or the blue label from the store?

The blue label they distribute is juice from Kentucky that's aged in their barrels, and I'm not particicularly a fan.

Their in house juice single barrel, on the other hand, is hands down my favorite Texas bourbon. I know that's not saying much, but I really enjoy it. Can only get it from their distillery off 249.

Yep. For $400 you should buy the Stagg. Was it last year's release of GTS? I haven't had it yet but the other GTS I've had is some amazing juice. Last year's WLW would be a close second.

You are correct, Garrison's is horrible. I've bought a few bottles over the years, hoping that at some point they will turn a corner, and make it atleast enjoyable. But they're not there yet. It's amazing how many people are fooled into thinking Garrison's is good. When people that are fairly new to bourbon tell me they like Garrison's, I pull out the bottle and have them try it next to something like Blanton's or Kentucky Spirit. I respect the way Garrison's is made, and I want to like it, but I just can't. I'd take Ranger Creek .36 over GB any day, but I'd take a Four Roses Small Batch over either one, at less than half the price.

I tried this HM Temptress Single Malt Whiskey. Very interesting stuff.
I was told it is distilled from Lakewood Temptress Beer.

At the Twin in Cedar Park (1431 and Parmer), I just picked up:

* Bulleit Barrel Strength - $52.99
* Four Roses Single Barrel OBSQ - $62.99

Several bottle left on the shelf. First I've seen of either of these up this way...

4R OBSQ is fantastic stuff.

That Bulleit Barrel Proof was supremely disappointing. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special about it. Barrel proof blandness.

Very nice... been looking for that one for a while.

If anyone's looking for Forged Oak or Rhetoric 23, it can be had at Baybrook Total Wine, FWIW
