Just moved my 100+ bottle bar last week. My advice is to buy a couple rolls of thin foam padding, wrap each bottle individually and secure wrapping with tape, pack them into boxes tightly enough that they cant shift, use tons of high quality packing tape on the box bottoms so they don't fall open, and if you arent moving too far, take them to your new place yourself, nice and slow and careful, rather than letting the movers chuck them in the back of a truck with all the other stuff.

Mine all arrived in perfect shape. Hope yours do too.

I can take that worry right off your hands. Where ya movin? Aren't you on the southeast side somewhere?

LOL, you'll be fine. I had to rent a 10 x 10 storage unit just to hold all of mine while I moved.

store picks. smooth ambler discontinued them. this drove the price from retail of around 60-80 and secondry of 85-90 to almost $125-145 per bottle. i have liquor barn pick 10 year that i havent tried yet.

runor is because stores such as NASA liquor dipped them in wax without permission

My local Specs in Kingwood had some Weller Special Reserve (in the new green label) rather than just an empty slot last week, and I just finished my second pour.

I had a bottle of the 12 year about a year ago and have to say that I REALLY like the Weller line...it may be just that I'm partial to wheated bourbon...what's a decent high rye that I can easily find to compare the two? I guess Sazerac isn't a difficult if find if I want to compare Buffalo Trace products side by side.

Sazerac is a full on Rye Whiskey, not a high-rye bourbon. If you are looking for a bourbon with a higher than average rye content, I would suggest Four Roses Small Batch or Single Barrel. The orange label Bulleit is a high-rye bourbon as well and more comparable price-point-wise to Weller SR (the green label Bulleit is another full Rye Whiskey like Sazerac).

Don't let the Special Reserve name fool you. It's their bottom of the line wheated bourbon. Not a bad pour for the price but not something to hoard either

I know exactly what it is and how it should be viewed.

I just had never had it and my local Specs keeps a nice big hole open when the don't have any, and that's been the norm for most of the last year.

I don't collect as I'm the buy a bottle and drink it type, so I won't be hoarding any, but I'll certainly pick it up again in the future.

So what are yalls favorites? Let's do a couple lists:

1) daily go-tos
2) favorite rare/somewhat hard to finds
3) best you've ever had

Okay if some overlap... let's keep it to 3 each

I think I have been happier with the selection at the Atascocita Specs and Pascals.
